Sabria Hunter scored 34 points to become Fitch’s all-time scoring leader for basketball (boys and girls). She needed 29 to break the record. Hunter now has 1,58 points and broke the record Dana Sulenski set in 1995. Taylor Fronk’s 12 points included three 3-pointers. Daria Williams and Mia Jackson each scored 11. Beaver Local advances to State Dual Tournament

Beaver Local is the lone Mahoning Valley team to advance to State Dual Wrestling Tournament. The Beavers advanced Saturday as the Division II, Region 12 champ, eliminating Canfield in the semifinals along the way with a 38-30 win in Alliance. Wins by pin from the Beavers’ Cole McComas (126), Logan Ours (120) and Skyler Lasure (145), plus major decisions in favor of Johnathan Potts (10) and Logan Krulik (152) clinched the win before the 170-pound bout. Beaver Local beat Louisville, 51-21, for the title. Canfield senior David Reinhart collected his 100th career win in the tournament. Elsewhere in Region 12, West Branch beat Salem, 58-20, before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Steubenville, 40-28. In Division I, Region 4, Regional Champ Lakewood St. Edward’s routed Boardman and Austintown Fitch. The Spartans, 61-6, in the quarterfinals and the Falcons went down, 71-3 in the regional finals. In Division III, Region 20, South Range went the farthest among locals teams, beating Rittman 55-25 before losing to Sandy Valley, 42-35, in the quarterfinals. Crestview, Wellsville and United were all eliminated in the opening rounds.
