Another suspect is in the Mahoning County jail in connection with the Jan. 24 Crystal Hernandez killing.

Lavante Perry, 24, turned himself in to Youngstown police at 9:35 p.m. Friday on a felonious assault warrant.

Police said Perry and Hernandez’s boyfriend, Gabriel Smith, 19, who was also taken into custody Friday, fired shots at 1050 McGuffey Road in retaliation for shots being fired at Smith Jan. 24.

Six people were charged in Hernandez’s slaying, four of them in custody.

Still being sought are Marquise Torres-Willis, 21, and Joquaun Blair, 22.
