The Boardman Varsity Basketball Team hosted its annual Elementary School Night Jan. 25.

Students from all Boardman Elementary School’s were awarded free admission into the game as long as they were wearing spartan spirit wear.

According to Boardman communication specialist Amy Radinovic, each school also broke into teams, led by Elementary School principals, to compete in a basket making challenge.

Each team, from Robinwood Elementary, Stadium Drive Elementary, Market Street Elementary and West Boulevard Elementary Schools, competed one on one in a tournament style during the game’s halftime.

Students lined up and took turns shooting, as the principal rebounded balls, trying to make the most shots in a two minute time.

After two teams competed against each other, the winners of each round competed against each other.

“This is a fun thing we like to participate in every year,” said Stadium Drive Principal Mike Zoccali.

Market Street Elementary School came out victorious.

“We love to have community support at the games and this is a way to get everyone out and have a good time,” Radinovic said.
