The Canfield Library program, “Improving Your Memory” that was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday has been rescheduled to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23.

Rotary Clubs hosts Junior Achievement

Library to offer job-seeker classes

SALEM

Help for writing resum s and cover letters will be available at a technology class at Salem Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4. Instructor Stephanie Peterson will help job seekers create resum s and cover letters that improve the likelihood of getting hired.

The class will take place in the library’s Quaker Room, 821 E. State St. Seating is limited, and registration is required.

The class is provided through a Guiding Ohio Online grant made by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the State Library of Ohio.

YWCA offers Discovery Place

The YWCA Mahoning Valley is accepting applications for preschool students for the YWCA Discovery Place. The program is a year-round kindergarten readiness curriculum and is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The program offers nutritious meals and snacks each day, trips to the OH WOW! The YWCA also will host its Women’s Annual Celebration and Benefit at 6 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Warren YWCA, 375 N. Park Ave. The event will feature a table-decorating competition, designer purse auction, food and an open bar. Anyone interested can call 330-746-6361, ext. 109, by Sept. 20.

Rotary Foundation announces program

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Rotary Foundation is announcing a $40,000 Community Grant Program for local nonprofit organizations that impact the city of Youngstown.

The program will provide two categories of grant opportunities addressing one or more of Rotary International’s six areas of focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution; disease prevention and treatment; water and sanitation; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; and economic and community development.

The application and eligibility requirements are available at www.youngstownrotary.com, click “Clubrunner Link (members)” on the navigation bar. Grant applications will be accepted through Oct. 31. Music for Mary set for Sept. 5

YOUNGSTOWN

Kravitz Deli, 3135 Belmont Ave., will host a Music for Mary fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 5. Proceeds benefit Mary Giancola Pappas who has been battling cancer for 30 years.

Cost is $25 per person and includes a signature sandwich, dessert and soft drink. A cash bar will be available and there will be a 50-50 raffle. For information and tickets, call Patty at 330-518-6357. Entertainment will be provided by Larry Elefante and Friends.
