YSU soccer bests Fort Wayne to start season

The Youngstown State soccer team opened the 2019 season with a victory. Marcella Sizer’s score in the 50th minute broke a tie, leading the Penguins to a 2-1 win over Purdue Fort Wayne Friday night.
Addie Roman opened the scoring for the Penguins (1-0) with a goal in the first minute. Eliese LaCourt tied the game in the 48th minute for the Mastodons (0-1).
Sammy Salatino and Regan LaVigna had assists for YSU. Zeeyana Jivraj made nine saves for the Penguins, and Lorah Pund stopped four for Fort Wayne.
