Periodic Table is lecture topic

SHARON, PA.

Penn State Shenango will begin its 2019-20 lecture series with a presentation by Kathy Shaffer, assistant chemistry professor, on Sept. 5. She will discuss the “International Year of the Periodic Table” and what it means to us and to science.

The lecture series will continue on Oct. 17 with Tammy Divens, assistant profesfor occupational therapy assistant, as she presents “Mindful Living to Overcome Opioid Addiction.”

Phillip Nash, associate professor of history, will present “Breaking Protocol: America’s First Female Ambassadors, 1933-1964” on Feb. 26.

The final presentation will be April 2, titled “A Night with the Writers,” with poet Craig Paulenich and playwright Kelly Bancroft.

All presentations will begin at 5:30 p.m. and be held in Lecture Hall 223.

Party on the Plaza moves to the amp

YOUNGSTOWN

Due to illness by a member of the band, the Fabulous Flashbacks will be unable to perform tonight at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.

In its place, the regularly scheduled Party on the Plaza event, featuring the House Band, has been moved to the amphitheater. It originally was to take place on North Phelps Street, downtown.

Friday’s concert at the amphitheater is part of Panerathon weekend. It originally had a $10 admission price, but now it will be free. Those who have already purchased tickets may receive refunds at their point of purchase.

The amphitheater will open at 6:30 p.m., with opening act RDNA taking the stage at 7:30 p.m.

Panerathon, which raises money for breast cancer reseaerch, will be Sunday at Covelli Centre.
