Defense in buried newborn case wants trial moved from county

LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — Attorneys for an Ohio woman accused of killing and burying her newborn daughter want her trial moved to another county, citing what they describe as “prejudicial” media coverage.

Attorneys for 20-year-old Brooke Skylar Richardson filed a motion Friday asking the judge to move the Sept. 3 trial out of Warren County. The judge and attorneys plan to meet on final pretrial issues today. The judge also plans to meet with news media representatives to discuss coverage logistics of what’s expected to be a high-profile trial.

The former high school cheerleader has pleaded not guilty. Her attorney has said the baby was stillborn

Richardson was charged with aggravated murder and other counts after her baby’s remains were found in July 2017 in Carlisle, about 40 miles north of Cincinnati.
