Silent horror film with pipe organ
YOUNGSTOWN
Stambaugh Auditorium will screen the silent horror film “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” with live pipe organ accompaniment by Clark Wilson at 4 p.m. Oct. 27. Admission is free but tickets are required; call 330-259-0555, go to stambaughauditorium.com or go to the box office.
The film begins in a carnival in a small town in Germany, where the highlight is the peculiar Dr. Caligari and the even stranger Cesare, who can predict the future. Two friends, Francis and Alan, encounter the pair and Alan asks, “When will I die?” The reply is, “At first dawn!” At dawn, Alan is dead and suspicions arise. Is Cesare guilty? Or is something or someone else responsible?
