The Salem Public Library invites everyone who enjoys needlework, such as knitting, tatting, crocheting, etc. to bring a project and attend a Stitches in Time evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Quaker Meeting Room located at 821 E. State St. Open to the public and free to attend, the evening offers an opportunity to work on projects with other crafters.

No registration is required. Stitches in Time takes place on the third Wednesday of each month. New needle crafters are always welcome. For information, call the library at 330-332-0042.

Myeloma support group to meet Monday

Yellow Brick Place will host the Multiple Myeloma Support Group on Monday at Denny’s on Mahoning Avenue, not at YBP.

Go Wild in the Park event to study raptors

Josh Kuszmaul of Raptor Hallow Sanctuary will present a talk about raptors (birds that hunt and eat vertebrates) and introduce some of the rescued birds that live at Raptor Hallows at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waterworth Memorial Park, pavilion #9. Weather-permitting, there may be a demonstration of raptors in flight. The program is open to the public and free to attend. Craft show planned

Salem Golf Club Women’s Association will sponsor the Quaker Ladies Arts and Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Golf Club, 1967 S. Lincoln Ave., in the ballroom area. YSU professor to give Apollo presentation

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host a presentation by Douglas Fowler, retired professor of Youngstown State University, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. He will discuss “Apollo Missions and the Significance of Moon Rocks.” The program is free and open to the public. Registration is required and seating is limited. Band Night planned

Austintown Fitch Band Night will take place at Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown Falcon Stadium at 7 p.m. Aug. 28.

The participating bands include: Canfield High School Marching Band, Girard High School Marching Band, Lisbon High School Marching Band, McDonald High School Marching Band, Springfield High School Marching Band and Ursuline High School Marching Band‚ã.

Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.

Library to host Earthlodge event

Bring your curiosity and questions to this look at the lives of the Northern Plains Indians on the Upper Missouri River during a program to take place at 6:30 p.m Thursday in the Quaker Room of Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St. Participants will learn about Native Americans who hunted bison and other game but were also farmers living in villages along the Missouri River. Hear how the site was a major Native American trade center for hundreds of years. This program is open to the public and free to attend. Farmers’ Market to host cooking class

The Austintown Farmers’ Market and Family First Adult Day Services will host “Healthy Cooking for One or Two People” at 6 p.m., during the Market, Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. The class is free, but registration is needed, by calling 330-349-2503 or email austintownfarmersmarket@gmail.com. The market also will feature food, craft, produce vendors, and kids’ crafts and a free healthy cooking demonstration.

Scholarship awarded to seven students

The Danielle Marie Hodge Memorial Scholarship, established by her parents through the Youngstown State University Foundation, has been awarded to seven students.

The recipients are: Joseph Chepke, Jack Chepke and Angela Rodino, Austintown Fitch High School; Cassandra Hanuschak, Ursuline HS; Ross Fabrizi, Cardinal Mooney HS; Jensen Kniska, South Range HS; and Hunter Woodley, Chalker HS.

The fundraising committee for the scholarship fund will host its annual dinner Nov. 15 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
