YSU band preview show set

The Youngstown State University’s Marching Pride band has scheduled several events for the fall semester, including a preview performance at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Stambaugh Stadium.
The event is free and open to the public however, a donation of a non-perishable food item or personal hygiene product will be accepted for the YSU Student Government pantry.
Patrons will be treated to a preview of the music the marching band will perform during Penguin football games. After the performance, the Pride will have a public rehearsal for fans to observe.
Also scheduled are two workshops.
The first, Penguinette for a Day, will be Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Beeghly Center. The event is aimed at students in grades K through 12, and will be broken into two age groups.
A Color Guard for a Day workshop for students in grades seven to 12 will take place Aug. 24 from noon to 2:30 p.m. in Beeghly Center.
Both workshops are free, and include a T-shirt, pizza lunch and dance, twirling and color guard instruction by the 2019-20 Penguinettes, this year’s Feature Twirlers and Color Guard members and staff. Advance registration is mandatory at ysubands.org under Marching Pride. Attendees will be contacted with details after completing the registration form.
On Sept. 7, Marching Pride alumni are invited to participate in an alumni performance during halftime of the YSU football game in advance of the Dana Alumni Reunion scheduled for later that evening.
