Wellness program set for Wednesday

SALEM

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will hold its Wellness Wednesday program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, which will host Mike Viola, Salem Self Pro Martial Arts director, and assistants.

The program will be about hands-on self-defense training and will take place in the Quaker Room. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required and can be done online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or by calling 330-332-0042.

Craft show set for Aug. 24

SALEM

Salem Golf Club Women’s Association will sponsor the Quaker Ladies Arts and Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Salem Golf Club, 1967 S. Lincoln Ave., in the ballroom area.

All artisans, crafters and artists are invited. Lunch will be available. The event and parking are free. For information, call 330-332-0346.

Society to host open house, Heritage Days

Niles Historical Society will host its monthly open house of the Ward-Thomas House, 503 Brown St., on Sunday in conjunction with Heritage Days, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wild Wheels Car Show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Heritage Days will feature historical materials and tours of the house, greenhouse and barn along with displays by local crafters, artisans and vendors.

There will be activities for children and music by DJ Ropper. Rick Muccio will be doing character drawings. At 1 p.m., there will be a musical performance by vocalist Amanda Beagle and her voice students. Birds in Flight with Heather Merritt will have a demonstration at 2, and Steel Valley Ukers’ Ukelele Band will play at 3. Nick Spano will speak at 4 about Harry Stevens. Wild Wheels Car Show will showcase vintage and classic cars throughout the years and awards will be presented.

Club to host open house Saturday

WARREN

The Riverside Railroad Club will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in the basement of the YWCA Warren Center, 375 N. Park Ave. There is an elevator available.

G-scale trains make their way through a detailed city constructed by members. Donation of $3 is requested and free for children age 12 and younger.
