Michael Cooper put the ball in play and the Auburn Doubledays gave away a win.

Cooper’s fielder’s choice led to a 6-5 win in 11 innings to cap a three-game sweep on Saturday for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Adalberto Carrillo’s throwing error scored Bryan Lavastida and Will Brennan.

The Doubledays took a 5-3 lead in the top of the 11th inning on a ground ball from Carrillo and a passed ball by Scrappers catcher Yainer Diaz.

Johnathan Rodriguez’s two-out triple drove Lavastida home to start a rally by the Scrappers (25-29) in the seventh. Joab Gonzalez led off the eighth with a double and Brayan Rocchio hit a two-bagger of his own with one out to cut the lead to 3-2. Lavastida drove in Rocchio with a two-out single later in the inning to tie the game.

Luis Sanchez allowed two unearned runs in the top of the 11th, but earned the win. Bobby Milacki allowed three unearned runs in 2 1/3 innings for the Doubledays (20-33)

The Scrappers will travel to Batavia, N.Y., to play the Muckdogs to start a six-game road trip. The opener of the three-game series is today at 5:05 p.m.
