Families host students from Japan

Staff report

As part of the LABO International Student Exchange Program, which is affiliated with Ohio 4-H, families in Mahoning, Trumbull, Ashtabula and Summit counties are hosting students from Japan in their homes for three weeks. The program gives students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an English-speaking culture as a way to reinforce their learning and create friendships among nations.

Hosting this year are the Piper family of Boardman, the Kadilak family of Canfield, the Snyder family of New Springfield and the Shank family of Berlin Center.

In Trumbull County, the Imhoff family of Bristolville are hosting, while the Kemmerle family from Ashtabula county are hosting for their second year. The Kline family of Summit county also have opened their home.

The students will return home to Japan on Aug. 18 to begin their school year.
