Sylak medalist, Mineral Ridge wins Moransky Invitational
SALEM
The Mineral Ridge boys golf team won the William Moransky Invitational on Wednesday at Salem Hills Golf Course in Salem. The Rams defeated defending champion Columbiana 335-353. Junior Jake Sylak who shot a 72 (35-37), junior Anthony Ragazzine had an 84 (39-45), senior Antonio LaMonica with an 89 (45-44) and senior Dylan Mazzupappa shot a 90 (43-47). Sylak also took the took first place among individuals with his 72. The 335 is new school record for the Rams for low score by a team. Columbiana finished second and was led by junior Tyler Andersen who scored a (37-36) 73 and was second among individuals. Jackson-Milton and Waterloo tied for third at 368. Top scorers for Waterloo was third-place finisher sophomore Luke Simmons with a 75 (38-37). Senior Kent Gross of Jackson-Milton with a 77 (36-41) was fifth. McDOnald sophomore Michael Porter was fourth with a 76 (37-39).

Canfield Cardinals capture Lakeview Invitational
BAZETTA TOWNSHIP
Canfield shot a team score of 366 for an 11-stroke victory over second-place Poland in the Lakeview Invitational at Tamer Win Golf & Club on Wednesday. Haley Tisone was the Cardinals’ low score with an 89, including a 37 on the front side. Jackie Kinnick had a 91. Hannah Ogden’s 91 was the low score for Poland. Beaver Local’s McKenna Kyler shot an 86 to earn medalist honors, but her school did not field a full team. Kenton’s Layla Gilbert shot 88 and beat Cardinal Mooney’s Jayne Bernard in a tiebreaker for second place among individuals.
