CANFIELD

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, will host its annual family clothing and school supplies giveaway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 17, in the fellowship hall.

Historical society to host lunch program

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning Valley Historical Society will present “The Scouting Movement: How it All Began” as the featured Bites and Bits of History lunch program at noon Aug. 15 at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 W. Federal St. Fritz Coombs and Bill Moss will speak.

Bits and bits of History lunch programs are offered each third Thursday of the month. The program is free and attendees can bring their own lunch. The Tyler History Center opens at 11:30 a.m.

Society will present walking tours

SALEM

Salem Preservation Society will host two free Historic Walking Tours at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. The morning tour will begin at the Ruth Smucker House, 271 S. Broadway Ave., and will include the Historic District of Downtown Salem.

The afternoon tour will begin at 365 S. Lincoln Ave. (the big red house), and will include stories of Salem’s industrial baron’s and business owners from pre-Civil War through the WW II eras.
