The Austintown library celebrated the release of the new “Toy Story” movie with a Toy Box Takeover event on June 20.
Librarian Romie Policy organized the event, hosting it at the Poland and Canfield libraries as well.
“I wanted a fun way to celebrate the new movie release,” Policy said. “Everyone loves ‘Toy Story.’”
During the event, Policy set up stations around the meeting room with themed crafts and games.
Children were able to create their own Mr. Potato Head and their own Forky.
Hammy’s egg game was available, along with a claw machine and buzz light years rocket launch.
Policy said that she organized the games to assist children with their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
“We really like to make sure that children who attend our events learn these skills, without ever really knowing they’re learning these skills,” Policy said.
She provided a snack of pretzels and juice boxes for children in attendance as well.
“I just wanted to get the community together to celebrate this movie,” Policy said.
Children were also able to enter a drawing for a piggy bank, and guess how many army men are in a jar.
