Urban Farm & Community Garden Tour

When: Monday, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

What: Join OSU Extension staff and trained master gardener volunteers to learn more about growing practices, helpful tips, soils, organic production and more.

Location: St. Pat’s Community Garden, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown.

Details: Bring a lawn chair for seating and a notepad. Don’t forget your weeds, diseases and insects. We’ll diagnose what’s going on in your garden, too.

The Forager’s Harvest

When: Sunday, noon to 2 p.m.

What: Join herbalist and homesteader Leah Wolfe for a class on late summer and fall foraging. Weather permitting, a walk will be included.

Where: Birch Hill Cabin, Mill Creek Park.

Nature Live!

When: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What: Get up close and personal with live reptiles and raptors, learn about plants and insects, and go on a bio hunt. Crafts, fun activities and more are included.

Where: MetroParks Farm, Canfield.

Cost: Free.

Ford Butterfly Hunt

When: Tuesday through next Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Aug. 11, noon to 5 p.m.

What: Look for the 20 butterflies we have hidden. Then go for a hike to look for these beautiful, amazing live insects.

Concert of Crickets

When: Next Saturday, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

What: Join OSU Extension and Mill Creek MetroParks for the Naturalist Series. We’ll learn about the musicality of nature’s insects with Dr. Lisa Rainsong, who spends much of her time studying and teaching music theory, while also taking time to appreciate and learn from nature’s music.
