Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association is celebrating 100 years of amateur radio this year. The club is asking any former members or anyone with information about former members to reply. CLUBS

Niles Friendly Squares will begin weekly square dance lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the instructor and cost is $6 per lesson. Lessons will take place each Tuesday through April 14, 2020. There are also monthly dances at the SCOPE Center. The Niles Friendly Squares will perform square dance demonstrations from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Canfield Fair on the stage in front of the international building.

Outspokin’ Wheelmen Bicycle Club offers a varied choice of bicycle rides daily and is seeking new members. The club is inviting anyone interested to meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lisbon Trailhead for a low to moderately-paced ride (ride is 10 to 15 miles). No rider will be left behind. Scouts BSA Girls Troop 25 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot at Canfield United Methodist Church, 27 S. Broad St. on the green. Trumbull County Travel Club has the following trips planned: Aug. 14, the oddities of the Canton area; Sept. 9-17, vacation to South Dakota; and a Nov. 2 outing for a gingerbread tour in Pennsylvania. The club is open to anyone over 21. There are no dues, and meetings are twice a year at various locations within the area. Trumbull County residency is not required to travel with the club. Western Reserve Amateur Radio Club will host its HAM radio club meeting Aug. 20 at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road, Canfield. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the meeting will take place at 7. POLITICAL GROUPS

Trumbull County Federated Democratic Women are announcing two major events. At 6 p.m. Monday, the group will celebrate the annual picnic at Perkins Park in Warren and on Oct. 6, the group invites the public to its annual card party at the Howland Community Church with tickets available from any member.

Trumbull County Republican Party will host its third annual Ronald Reagan barbecue from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at Creed’s Pavilion, 2900 Anderson-Morris, Niles. Tickets are $45 per person. Youngstown South Christian Women’s Connection will host an “O What a Beautiful Morning” luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Guest speaker will be Shirley Davidson, and her topic will be “Memories of the Girl Who Can, and the Woman Who Can’t.” Cost is $14, which includes lunch. SUPPORT GROUPS

Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter makes Alzheimer’s caregiver support groups available free of charge, open to all caregivers, family members, and friends with a loved one with affected by the disease or another form of dementia. The meetings are as follows: Canfield: fourth Thursday at 1:30 p.m., Canfield United Methodist Church, 27 S. Broad St.; Howland: second Tuesday at 7 p.m., Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland-Wilson Road, NE.; North Jackson: third Monday at 2 p.m., Antonine Sisters Adult Day Center, 2675 North Lipkey Road; and Warren: third Wednesday at 10 a.m., Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 E. Churchill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill Hubbard Road, Youngstown, will offer its Grief Share to all who have suffered a loss. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 and continue through Dec.12. Meetings take place in the church parlor on the second floor of the educational building. “Surviving the Holidays” will be offered at 2 p.m. Nov. 17. Grief Share is a 13-week program that offers videos such as “Is This Normal?” “The Challenges of Grief,” Grief and Your Relationships,” “Why?” and “Guilt and Anger” and more. Never Alone Nar-Anon Group is a 12-step program for family, relatives and friends affected by a loved one’s addiction to drugs. Salem Regional Medical Center will host a support group for area residents who have an ostomy as well as those who are preparing for ostomy placement. The group’s next monthly meeting is set for 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 12 in SRMC’s private dining room, located at the back of the cafeteria on the hospital’s ground floor. The group is led by SRMC’s Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse, and offers education, encouragement and emotional support for people with any type of ostomy, including those with permanent or temporary urostomies, ileostomies and colostomies. Meetings also address some of the common concerns faced by people with ostomies. The group meets one Monday a month, and there is no cost. Family members and caregivers are welcome. Someplace Safe Inc. Support Group will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Howland Public Library Community Room, 9095 E. Market St., Warren. The group is open to all survivors of domestic/intimate partner violence and can attend as many or as few sessions as desire. Light refreshments will be provided.
