GIRLS LACROSSE

Canfield 17, Boardman 5

CANFIELD

Clare Crescimanno, Hannah Crowe and Tara Santoro each had thre goals for the Cardinals (10-3). Lily Pollen, Emily Wilson, Paige Christoff and Athena Poullas also scored goals. Pollen had two assists and Isabella Kelty, Crowe and Shianne Donnarummno each had one. Mara Guerreri had five saves and Karly D’Apolito made two for the Cardinals.

BASEBALL

Canfield 3, Austintown Fitch 2

AUSTINTOWN FITCH

The Cardinals won the All-American Conference Red Tier. Brent Herrmann allowed two runs on nine hits, striking out five in a complete-game win. Canfield scored all three runs in the top of the third inning. Chance Merlin hit an RBI double while Jad Jadallah and Brayden Beck homered and singled. Casey Bokesch and TJ Piroch drove in runs for the Falcons (15-5, 5-2). Devin Higginbotham took the loss for Fitch. He allowed three runs on five hits, striking out two in 32/3 innings. Christian Myers, TJ Piroch and Bobby Cavalier all had multiple hits for the Falcons.

Ursuline 4, Massillon 2

MASSILLON

The Irish (9-9) broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the top of the sixth inning to beat the Tigers. Jake Friesen’s double drove in the go-ahead run and Pat Donofrio added an RBI single for an insurance run. Jonah Kirchner worked five innings and struck out four for the win. Joel Kreuzwieser pitched two scoreless innings and struck out two for a save. Vince Armeni and Brent Nelson each had two hits. Nelson had a double and an RBI. The loss dropped Massillon to 9-9.

Cardinal Mooney 14, West Branch 7

STRUTHERS

Johnnie Mikos struck out eight in a complete-game win. Mikos allowed seven runs on five hits and five walks. Jordan Sheehan went 4 for 4 with a double and three runs scored for the Cardinals. Mason Walker took the loss for the Warriors (12-8). Walker allowed nine runs on 11 hits and four walks in five innings pitched. David Cunningham had two hits, including a double, with a run scored and an RBI for the Warriors.

Poland 8, Hubbard 2

POLAND

M.J. Farber went 3 for 3, Braeden O’Shaughnessy had two hits and Zach Yaskulka doubled and drove in three runs for the Bulldogs. Braden Olson pitched a four-hitter and struck out six for the win. Lukas Mosora and Evan Jarvis each had a double for the Eagles.

South Range 2, Jefferson 0

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Jake Gehring (5-0) struck out 13 in a two-hit shutout for the Raiders (14-4, 9-1 Northeast 8. He outdueled Andrew Vance, who allowed just four hits and struck out six for the Falcons (8-10, 3-8). Kris Scandy’s second-inning double drove in Jaxon Anderson for a 1-0 lead. Dylan Dominguez’s sixth-inning double drove in Brandon Mikos.

Minerva 6, Crestview 5

MINERVA

The Lions scored all their runs in the first two innings for an early 6-1 lead and held on to beat the Rebels (11-6). Crestview scored a run in the top of the first, two in the fourth and two in the seventh. Devin Turvey singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Rebels and Jude Riffle added two singles.

Liberty 4, Brookfield 3

LIBERTY

Trevor Strohmeyer struck out 13 and walked one a complete-game win. He allowed seven hits and two earned runs. Justin Atkinson struck out four in a complete-game loss. Atkinson drove in two for the Warriors (5-13). Eric Shingledecker had two hits for Brookfield. Zach Coman hit a two-run home run for the Leopards (4-15, 4-6 AAC Blue).

Springfield 8, Jackson-Milton 1

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Four Tigers pitchers combined to no-hit the Blue Jays, who scored their only run in the fourth inning when Aaron Landis walked and scored on a throwing error. Shane Eynon, Nick Slike. Chris Thompson and Clayton Nezbeth combined on the no-hitter. Eynon struck out four in three innings, Slike fanned four in two innings and Thompson struck out two in the sixth. Nezbeth worked a 1-2-3 seventh. Mitchell Seymour had three hits and Thompson and Nezbeth each had two hits and two RBIs. Thompson’s hits were doubles.

Mineral Ridge 9, Western Reserve 3

BERLIN CENTER

Mark Bunch and Kyle Bickerstaff combined on a two-hitter for the Rams in a Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference victory. Dom Medina and Mark Bunch each had two hits and Jake Carfalo had a double.

Lowellville 5, McDonald 2

MCDONALD

Dylan Durkin led Lowellville with two RBIs and Micah Mamula Zarlingo doubled. N. Wellington had two hits and drove in a run. Bryan Harris allowed zero earned runs over six innings to earn the win. For McDonald, A. Cupan drove in a run and R. Lewis had two hits.

Lisbon 0, Southern 0

LISBON

Logan Bell allowed one hit in eight innings and set a Lisbon single-game record with 18 strikeouts in a scoreless game suspended after eight innings. The game will be completed today when the teams meet again at Southern. S. May worked 52/3 scoreless innings and J. Pratt worked two-thirds of an inning of scoreless relief. Bell led Lisbon with three hits and B. Reynolds had two. May had the only hit for Southern.

East Palestine 3, Wellsville 1

EAST PALESTINE

Cooper Vance struck out seven in a complete-game win. Vance allowed four hits without a walk. Cole Corbin struck out four in five innings for the Tigers. Corbin allowed five hits and three runs. Brock Cheurco, Sean Shelpy and Connor Elliott all drove in runs for the Bulldogs (11-7, 6-5 Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference). Elliott had two hits and Jordon Fristik had a triple. Jonathan Walker scored on unearned run for the Tigers.

Columbiana 7, United 2

HANOVERTON

The Golden Eagles did most of their damage in a six-rub third inning to beat the Clippers. Alex Birtalan singled and drove in two runs for United. Six different players had hits and seven different players scored runs for the Golden Eagles. Shane Black scattered five hits and four walks and struck out for in the victory. Seth Ross had two hits and Evan Kenneally had a double for Columbiana (7-8, 4-3 EOAC).

Alliance 4, Salem 1

SALEM

Freshman Brock Young got his first varsity start for Salem (9-9, 5-3 Eastern Buckeye Conference), allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out two. Joey Watson drove in Young on a base hit in the fifth.

Warren JFK 13, Cleveland Central Catholic 1

CLEVELAND

Gavin Shrum threw a complete-game one-hitter in the win. Shrum allowed one unearned run and a walk, striking out seven. Warren JFK led 4-0 before a nine-run top of the third inning. Michael Mauro, Gavin Shrum and Peyton Comer had two RBIs each for the Eagles. Alex Hernandez also had an RBI.

Hickory 7, Sharon 0

HERMITAGE, PA.

Jorge Leedham, Nick Osborne and Connor Evans combined on a no-hitter for the Hornets. Leedham worked four innings and struck out seven. Osborne pitched two innings in relief and Evans pitched the seventh to complete the no-hitter. Cam Whalen doubled and homered and David Greenburg had a two-out, two-run single in the third. Hornets left fielder Matt Jordan saved three runs with an over-the-shoulder catch in left field in the top of the first.

Ursuline 14, Beaver Local 0

YOUNGSTOWN

Emma Ericson (9-0) tossed a two-hitter, struck out nine and hit and an RBI double for the Irish (17-2). Julia Nutter added five RBIs for the second game in a row as she doubled and homered. Gia Caldrone hit three doubles and had 4 RBIs and Paige Ogden also hit a home run for the Irish. Leah Pancake and Morgan Bouscher each doubled for Beaver Local.

Boardman 6, Warren Harding 0

BOARDMAN

Vanessa Roush had two hits and Dana Haus scored twice for the Spartans and Jenny Taraszewski pitched a two-hitter over 62/3 innings. She struck out six. Kathryn O’Hara relieved in the seventh and struck out the only batter she faced. Payton Schuller and Kaylee Galloway had the only hits for the Raiders.

Poland 17, Hubbard 0

POLAND

Cami Lattanzio cracked two three-run homers for six RBIs for the Bulldogs (17-0, 9-0 NE8). Abby Farber’s two hits drove in three runs. Winning pitcher Ashley Wire (11-0) tossed a four hitter. For the Eagles, Sydney Bowser, Emily Filicky, Jackie Adler and Hailey Croyle had hits.

Jefferson 8, South Range 7

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Bree Kohler struck out five and walked one, allowing nine hits in the loss. Sheridon Wilber struck out three and walked two in the win. Kohler and Brooke Sauerwein each had two RBIs for the Raiders (13-6, 7-3 NE8). Cheyenne Kase and Kylie Snyder had two RBIs for Jefferson. Julie Centofanti had two singles for the Raiders and Kohler hit a two-run inside-the-park home run.

Springfield 9, Jackson-Milton 4

NEW MIDDLETOWN

The Tigers erased a 4-2 deficit with two runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to beat the Blue Jays. Springfield tied the game in the fifth on RBI doubles by Molly Pontius and Jacqueline Kish. Springfield then broke it open in the sixth. Kaelen Yemma had an RBI double, Hayley Tydings had a run-scoring single and Jacqueline Kish had a hit to drove in Kat Kish and Abby Joseph. Pontius later scored on a passed ball. Joseph pitched the first five innings for Springfield (12-6, 9-4 MVAC). Joseph gave up seven hits, struck out eight and walked one. Jacqueline Kish came on in relief and pitched the final two innings. Kish did not allow a hit and struck out four of the six batters she faced. Kish had a single and a double and three RBIs. Pontius had a single and a double and drove in two. Makenzy Capouellez, Marlie Applegarth and Yemma each chipped in with a double. Abby Spalding homered and singled for the Blue Jays and Taylor Sahli doubled and drove in three runs. Katie Mitchell, Spencer Christopher, Jordan Stratton and Dana Saunders each hit a single.

Waterloo 11, Sebring 0

ATWATER

Mackensi Kehrer pitched a five-inning perfect game and struck out six for the Vikings. Brooke Twichell, Laura Hood and Taylor Werbeck each had two hits and Twichell, Hood and Amber Cieplinski each drove in two runs for Atwater.

Crestview 1, Magnolia 0

WHEELING, W. VA.

Haley Eskra scored the only run on a passed ball as the Rebels (18-4) clinched their first Ohio Valley Athletic Conference 3A championship. Crestview set a record for most wins in a season.

Canton South 7, Salem 4

SALEM

Brianna Zwick had a double, two singles and three RBIs for the Wildcats. Meg Rossero and Elly Exline had two singles each for Salem. Quakers cleanup hitter Hayden Carner is now one RBI shy of the school record as she hit two doubles and drove in three runs. She has 22 RBIs on the season. Taylor Thorpe struck out 12 in the loss.

Badger 23, Southington 0

KINSMAN

Hunter Bengala went 4 for 5 with seven RBIs and two home runs. She also pitched a five-inning one-hitter, striking out eight with two walks. Erica Ramsey and Reanna Douglas drove in three runs each for the Braves. Wildcats pitcher Aleeyah Pack allowed 23 runs — 16 earned — on 21 hits and six walks with three strikeouts.
