Injured right guard Fusco released

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga.

The Atlanta Falcons have released guard Brandon Fusco after bolstering the position in free agency and last week’s NFL draft.

Fusco started the first seven games at right guard last season before suffering a season-ending right ankle injury against the New York Giants on Oct. 22.

The Falcons signed free-agent guards James Carpenter and Jamon Brown before making guard Chris Lindstrom the team’s first pick of the NFL draft.

The 30-year-old Fusco has also played for Minnesota and San Francisco, starting in 87 of 90 games.

Seattle Seahawks

Kicker Sebastian Janikowksi retires

Former Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks kicker Sebastian Janikowski is set to retire after an 18-year career.

Janikowski spent 17 seasons with Oakland before kicking last season with Seattle after signing a one-year deal.

The Raiders took Janikowski with the 17th overall pick in the 2000 draft out of Florida State. Janikowski converted 80.4 percent of his field goal attempts during his career and made the Pro Bowl in 2011.

Miami Dolphins

Rosen confident he can become starting QB

Davie, Fla.

Josh Rosen is embracing his fresh start with the Miami Dolphins and says he still believes he can be a franchise quarterback, despite being supplanted by Kyler Murray after only one season at Arizona.

At his introductory news conference with the Dolphins on Monday, Rosen smiled a lot and even cracked a couple of jokes, such as when he was asked if he had a chip on his shoulder after a rocky rookie season. Rosen responded that his chip doesn’t need to grow any more because he “might tip over.”

Arizona traded Rosen on Friday to the Dolphins for two draft picks, and he says he feels as though he was drafted for the second year in a row. He’ll compete in Miami for playing time with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, another Dolphins newcomer.

NEW YORK

The NFL and Twitter have announced a multiyear extension, including six new live shows for the league’s 100th season.

The deal will feature live programming built around some of the NFL’s biggest events and more game highlights each week.

The six shows will be focused on some of the league’s highest-profile events, including the NFL Kickoff, Thanksgiving games, conference championship games, Super Bowl, combine and draft.

And each week, the NFL will produce highlight packages for Twitter.

Since announcing their first partnership agreement in 2013, the NFL has developed live programming and distributed on-demand content for the social media site.
