Center to host ‘Hope for Tomorrow’ talk

The Master’s Touch Healing & Training Center, 5357 S. Raccoon Road, will host “Hope For Tomorrow” at 6:30 p.m. today.

The purpose of the meeting is to offer hope to anyone who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide, depression. divorce, financial problems, loss of a loved one or illness.

Society to host annual dinner

MERCER, PA.

The Mercer County Historical Society will host its annual dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Dr. James K. Sewall Genealogical Library, 119 S. Pitt St. Dinner will be at 6 and will include tossed salad, chicken breast with stuffing, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, and rolls with butter. A brief business meeting will take place at 7, followed by a presentation by Amber Farris, McKinley Memorial Museum director.

The presentation is free and open to the public. Cost of dinner is $12 per person, and tickets will be available at the MCHS, 119 S. Pitt St., or by calling 724-662-3490. Tickets must be purchased by noon Thursday.

Club hosts speaker, plans meeting

“Harriet Taylor Upton” was the guest of the Trumbull County Republican Women’s Club for its April meeting. She spoke of her life and politics during the women’s suffrage movement. Taylor Upton, portrayed by E-Carol Maxwell, invited everyone to visit her home in Warren and get out and vote.

The slate of nominees for 2019-20 officers was introduced and voted on by members. Sarah Kovoor is president elect with first vice president’s chair being filled by Gail Drushel. The second vice president will be Peggy Boyd; secretary will be Karen Combs; and Sandy Mahaffey will be taking over as treasurer.

Thursday’s meeting will take place at Ciminero’s Banquet Center. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at noon. Call Gail Drushel at 330-847-6488 for registration.

Valley Legacy award nominations requested

The Valley Legacy Awards Committee is accepting nominations until Tuesday, and nominees will be recognized at the Valley Legacy luncheon that will take place Oct. 10.

The awards will be for Outstanding Senior for professional excellence, Outstanding Senior for community achievement and Outstanding Senior Advocate.

Students to present engineering projects

Students at the University of Mount Union will showcase their engineering projects at the school’s third annual Engineering and Entrepreneurship Design Expo from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the engineering and business building on campus.

The event, which will feature poster presentations from the senior civil and mechanical engineering capstone projects, is free and open to the public.

Students also will present on their international engineering experience, for which they traveled to Belize over spring break. Additionally, new toy and yard-game prototypes created by interdisciplinary groups of engineering and entrepreneurship students will be demonstrated.

Library to offer Pinterest program

Kathy Bennett, technology instructor at Salem Public Library, will present a program on Pinterest and how to use it in the Quaker Room, 821 E. State St., at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Participants will learn how to use devices (computers, tablets, Android phones and more) and the Pinterest website to find and create collections of information to bookmark and save online.

Attendees should bring a device. Seating is limited, and registration is required.
