All-American Conference Blue Tier asks to join MVAC
The schools that comprise the All-American Conference Blue Tier sent a notice to the AAC, announcing their departure from the conference. Crestview, Champion, Newton Falls, LaBrae, Liberty, Edgewood, Campbell and Brookfield make up the Blue Tier. They expressed interest in joining the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference following the 2020-21 academic year.
BASEBALL
Hubbard 2, Struthers 0
HUBBARD
Dylan Durkos struck out 12 in a complete-game win for the Eagles (8-10, 3-6 Northeast 8). Durkos allowed four hits without a walk and retired the final 12 hours. Jared Laczko allowed three hits, struck out five and walked three in a complete game for the Wildcats (5-11, 1-8). Andrew Frank had an RBI single in the third inning for the Eagles. Jamie Thompson walked twice and scored twice. Evan Jarvis and Anthony Corrin doubled for the Eagles.
Poland 5, Springfield 4
POLAND
Alex Barth pitched complete game drove in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Bulldogs. Barth led Poland with three hits, including a double, and Braden Olsen also doubled. Barth’s single in the sixth drove home Olson with the go-ahead run. Brannon Brungard, John Slike, Mitchell Seymour and Drew Clark each had two hits for the Tigers.
Toronto 3, Columbiana 2
COLUMBIANA
Chase Franken had three hits, including two doubles, and reached 100 hits for his career, but the Clippers (7-6, 5-3 Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) lost to the Red Knights. Franken scattered six hits and struck out eight in a hard-luck loss.
Lakeview 8, Jefferson 1
JEFFERSON
Nick Demonica struck out 11 in six scoreless innings as the Bulldogs beat the Falcons. Kevin Ellsworth-Myers went 3 for 3 and scored two runs for Lakeview and Clay Lazzari, Matthew McRoberts and Eli Boivin each had two hits.
Mathews 2, Grand Valley 1
ORWELL
Adam Wibert struck out 13 and pitched a two-hitter as Mathews won a battle of Mustangs in the Northeastern Athletic Confernece. Mathews (12-1) scored twice in the top of the fifth. GV’s lone run came in the sixth.
Salem 4, Minerva 1
MINERVA
Left-hander Adam Wilson scattered seven hits and struck out seven as the Quakers (8-8, 5-3 Easterm Buckeye Conference) beat the Lions. The only run for Minerva came on a first-inning balk call. Darius Beck and Dylan Sinkovich had RBI singles for Salem and Blaise Exline added a sacrifice fly. Nick Coletta had a double for the Quakers.
Bristol 12, Lordstown 0
BRISTOVILLE
Gage Elza singled, doubled and drove in thee runs and Nick Church also had three RBIs for the Panthers (11-3, 7-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference). Matt Church shut out the Red Devils on one hit over five innings.
Sebring 14, East 5
YOUNGSTOWN
The Trojans blew open a close game with seven runs in the top of the seventh. Addison Brendinger and Emma Whaley each had three hits and each had a double for Sebring. Kylei Jays and Delaney Reggi each had two hits. Miranda McCann, Quinn and Cook each had two hits for the Golden Bears.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.
Corbin Foy had three hits, including a double and triple, and Joe Corson drove in four runs as the Red Dragons won big after an eight-run first inning. Zack Leonard scattered eight hits for the victory. Leonard, Ken Flanigan and Chase Sudzina each had two hits.

The Red Dragons gave up 11 runs in the top of the first inning and lost in five innings. Zack Leonard led Niles with two hits, including a double.

Joe Gallo went 3 for 4, including a double and triple, but the Red Dragons allowed a tie-breaking run in the top of the seventh and lost. Corbin Foy and Brandon Hayes each had two hits for Niles. Hayes pitched two innings of relief and absorbed the loss. Anthony Manisero had three hits for St .Joseph.

Ian Haynes pitched a five-inning no-hitter as the Knights beat the Hornets. Haynes struck out four and walked three. Jorge Leedham took the loss for Hickory.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA.
Jad Jadallah recorded four hits for the Cardinals, including a double. Michael Budde got the win, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk. Budde struck out three in four innings pitched. Matt Lombardi took the loss for the Spartans. Lombardi allowed five runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning. Dante Flak and Jadallah drove in runs for the Cardinals.

Sam Brooks walked five and struck out six in 31/3 innings in a the loss for the Raiders (12-3). Brian Cooey had a double and two RBIs for the Tartans. Billy Richards-Jackson had two RBIs and Dylan Maria had a double.

WARREN
AJ Arp took the loss for the Eagles. Arp allowed five runs on seven hits and four walks, striking out two in 31/3 innings pitched. Jordan Edmondson, Gavin Shrum and Alex Hernandez had RBIs for the Eagles (11-3) while Cameron Hollobaugh doubled. Sam Lefebure allowed three runs on five hits and two walks in three innings for the win. Mason Tipton drove in two runs for the Knights.
West Branch 12, Canton South 4
BELOIT
Mason Walker allowed two unearned runs in four innings of relief for the win. Walker (3-2) allowed one hit and two walks with four strikeouts. He also went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Warriors (12-6, 6-4 Eastern Buckeye Conference). Josh Meissner hit a double, drove in three and scored for West Branch. Brady Noll took the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks.

EAST PALESTINE
Medrick had three hits and two RBIs and Bates, Cabel and Webb each had two hits for the Rockets (7-7). Aaron Gault singled, doubled and drove in two runs for the Lions (6-8) and Tom Kling and Hayden Stewart each had two hits. Kling had two RBIs.

Cardinal Mooney 7-16, Lake Catholic 1-1
MENTOR
Carly Francis had three hits, including a home run, in the Cardinals’ opening victory. Conchetta Rinaldi, Maddie Filisky and Brooke Chandler each doubled. Alaina Francis improved to 6-1 with a two-hitter. In the Rinaldi had two doubles, a triple and a homer and Alaina Scavina homered. Carly Francis, Alaina Francis, Scavina, Filisky and Chandler each had two hits for the Cardinals (15-2). Filisky struck out six and scattered three hits. Laura Pecic had a single, double and home run for the Cougars (8-7).

Julia Nutter singled, doubled, homered and drove in two runs for the irish (14-2). Emily Holland and Emma Ericson combined to scatter seven hits and strike out 10. Destiny Goodnight added had two hits and two RBIs and Maris Barbato added a triple for the Irish. Ursuline plays Fort LeBoeuf, Pa., today at noon and Mount de Sales, Md., Friday at 10 a.m. in North Myrtle Beach.

Ryleigh Morgan had three hits and Ashley Mickey had two hits and two RBIs as the Falcons (10-6, 7-1 All-American Conference Red Tier) crushed the Tigers (6-11). Maddy Taylor and Lainie Simons each had a single and double for Fitch. Emily Darlington homered for the lone Howland run.

BRISTOLVILLE
Billie Miller had three hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs as the Panthers beat the Red Devils on Senior Night. Lindsay Miller had a triple and a single and Kendyl Switzer singled twice for Bristol. Kayla Switzer had a double. Alayna Sines scattered five hits and struck out. Jess Wilk had two hits and Lexie Ensign hit a home run for Lordstown.
Newton Falls 4, Boardman 3
NEWTON FALLS
The Tigers scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the second inning to erase a 2-0 deficit. All the runs were unearned thanks to errors by the Spartans. Newton Falls’ Emily Knight doubled in two runs during the uprising. Knight also had a single. Winning pitcher Tara Backherms pitched a four-hitter. Jenny Taraszewski scattered six hits in a hard-luck loss.

Mackensi Kehrer led the Vikings (13-2) with three hits, including a double, and Amber Cieplinski, Memory Lyons and Brooke Twichell each had two hits. Cieplinski had a double. Angela Cirone hit had four hits and Kate McFarland had a triple for the Dukes.

Haley Hamilton hit a grand slam and a single in the Black Knights’ victory. Madison Fink added a single and double for Newbury. Details for Windham were reported.

CANFIELD
Lauren Fitzgerald doubled and drove in four runs and Mary Gomez and Brooke Crissman each doubled twice for the Cardinals. Gomez had three RBIs and Kalin Kovach had a triple for Canfield. Aiden Orlovsky added a double for the Cardinals. Sidney Griffith and Kylie Burke homered for the Dragons.

Camryn Mitchell’s walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning won it for the Blue Jays. Abby Spalding tripled and homered for Jackson-Milton, which collected 19 hits against Warren Harding. Spalding’s triple set the stage for Mitchell’s game-winning hit. Mitchell, Spalding and Jordon Stratton, Chelsea Williams, Megan Fultz, Spencer Christopher each had two hits for the Blue Jays. K. Heilman homered for the Raiders. South Range 13, Akron Ellet 2

Bree Kohler struck out 14, walking three and allowing five hits in the win. Mackenzie McLeod allowed three walks and struck out one in four innings for the Orangemen. Kohler had a home run and four RBIs for the Raiders. Hanna Dennison had two hits, including a double. Brooke Sauerwein also doubled for South Range. Jillian Strecansky had two singles. Drew Feren had two singles. Maddie Helon had two singles.

Sydney Bowser went 4 for 5 with three doubles with four RBIs for the Ealges. Haley Croyle had a home run with three RBIs and Gilian Ryser drove in two for Hubbard. Julia Szenborn drove in four runs for the Wildcats. Grace Narkum earned the win, striking out four in four innings of relief. Narkum allowed six runs — three earned — on 10 hits. Nic Pezzone allowed 16 runs — eight earned — on 14 hits and three walks in the loss.

ANDOVER
Badger broke the game open with a four-run top of the second inning to extend its lead to 7-1. Haylee Mott had four of the Braves’ 20 hits and drove in five runs. Hunter Bengala, Emily Sneizik and Alexis Melvin had three RBIs each for the Braves. Bengala hit a double, Badgers’ only extra-base hit of the game. Samantah Pykare allowed two runs — one earned — on three hits and two walks for the Braves, striking out six in five innings. Victoria Day and Jenna Swiger had RBIs for the Lakers. Angolia Wiser took the loss, allowing 25 runs — 14 earned — on 20 hits and nine walks, striking out three.

Jordan Anderson struck out two and walked one in a four-hitter for the Warriors. Brooke Albaugh took the loss for the Trojans, allowing 13 hits and five walks. Sydney Mercer went 3 for 4 with three doubles and four RBIs for the Warriors (17-2). Peyton Alazaus had three hits, including a double, with three RBIs while Grace Heath had a single and a double with two RBIs. Sidney Thompson doubled with an RBI for the Trojans.

Kaedyn Sutton pitched a five-hitter and aided her own cause with a single, double and three RBIs as the Rebels (17-3) won a an Ohio Valley Athletic Conference 3A semifinal. Crestview will face Magnolia, W.Va., in the finals at 7 p.m. Friday at the JB Chambers Complex. Olivia Strank’s single — her 30th this spring — for Cresvtiew set a school single-season record.

Becca Litz and Bailey Drapola went a combined 7 for 7 as the Warriors rolled in the first of two games. Litzm Chloe Willrich, Macy Devine and Gabby Schiska each drove in three runs. Izzy Shingledecker had a double. Brookfield scored all the runs it would need in a 12-run first inning. Schiska pitched a three-hitter and struck out five in five innings. Shingledecker went 3 for 3 and Drapola had four RBIs in the nightcap. Drapola and Litz each had two hits and Litz drove in three runs. Willrich had a double. Ciara Sinkuc struck out four and shut out the Red Devils on three hits in five innings.
