Ticketmaster ends telephone sales

Ticketmaster has discontinued its telephone ticket ordering service. Therefore tickets for all current and future shows at the Covelli Centre, Packard Music Hall and The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre cannot be purchased by telephone.

All tickets can still be purchased online at ticketmaster.com.

Tickets for shows at the Covelli Centre and Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre can be purchased at the Covelli box office, according to a news release from JAC Management, which operates the facilities.

Tickets for shows at Packard Music Hall in Warren can be purchased at the Packard box office, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.

‘Hansel and Gretel’ opera at YSU theater

The Dana Opera Ensemble will present Engelbert Humperdinck’s opera “Hansel and Gretel” at 2 p.m. Sunday in Spotlight Theater, lower level of Bliss Hall, on the Youngstown State University campus. Admission is free.

The production is being irected by Dana School of Music alumnus Gary Lehman, who is an internationally acclaimed heldentenor.

“Hansel and Gretel” is the timeless tale of family bonds, bravery in the face of fear, and triumph of good over evil. It includes the familiar fairy tale characters of the Brothers Grimm.

The cast includes Amanda Bertilacci, Rachel Jones, Sarah Hunter, David Mouse, Emilio Santiago, Sydney DiCenso, Lyndsay Heavner, Kristina Clemons, Emily Gerak and Geena Badalamenti.

Susan Foster handled musical preparation and Anthony Ruggiero is the pianist. Lighting designer is James Oakry and set designer is Kimberly Hunter.

Student art show at the McDonough

The Spring Graduating BFA Art Exhibition will open Friday at the McDonough Museum of Art at Youngstown State University and run through May 11. An opening day reception will begin at 5 p.m.

The show features work by 14 students achieving completion of the bachelor of fine arts degree.

Salem High presents ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

Salem High School will present “Little Shop of Horrors” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday in the school auditorium. Tickets are $12 ($8 for students and senior citizens).

Croce, Broussard to play Kent Stage

The Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St., has added two new shows to a busy 2019 concert calendar. “Croce Plays Croce” comes to Kent on June 15, and Southern troubadour Marc Broussard returns on Aug. 10.

Croce is the son of the late Jim Croce, and his concert will include a set of classics by his father, as well as some of his own tunes. Tickets are $40 and $30 for Croce, and $25 for Broussard. Go to thekentstage.com or call 877-987-6487. Both concerts start at 8 p.m.

Shakespeare, beer at the Hop Asylum

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

A group of Westminster College students will present “Brew & the Bard: An Evening of Shakespeare’s Comedy” at 7 p.m. Monday at the Hop Asylum Brewery, 138 S. Market St., New Wilmington.

The students will open the night with a teaser scene from “Hamlet,” which will run May 2-5 in the college’s Beeghly Theater as a senior capstone project. Students from the class and voluntary audience members will also read scripts for scenes from a series of Shakespearian plays, including “The Winter’s Tale,” “Twelfth Night” and “The Tempest.”

Admission is free, and drinks and food can be purchased from the brewery.

Free piano recital at St. Patrick Church
