Cleveland Opera to perform comedy ‘Susanna’s Secret’

The Cleveland Opera will present “Susanna’s Secret,” a comedy, at 7 p.m. Sunday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Holy Apostles Parish, 421 Covington St. Admission is free.

The company includes Francisco X. Prado, baritone as Count Gill; Nicole Wong as Susanna; Wanda Sobieska, violin and viola; Jacek Sobieski, piano; and Dorota Sobieska, stage director.

The concert will open with chamber music performances by Sobieska and Patrick Wickliffe, on viola and piano, respectively.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, Sobieska comes from a family of musicians and musicologists. She has appeared as solo and chamber musician in the United States, Poland and Canada.

Sobieska is also a gifted arranger. In 2009, she launched freegigmusic.com, a website dedicated to making much-needed sheet music available to working musicians.

Wickliffe studied at the Cleveland Institute, Oberlin Conservatory and Kent Sate University. In addition to a career as pianist and accompanist, he has worked in the church music field for the past 10 years.
