Workshops focus on history research
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is launching a workshop series on how to research. Participants will learn from the pros with workshops in which MVHS staff members discuss the tools and techniques they use in archival research and collections care.
The first workshop, Exploring your Roots: An Introduction to Genealogy, is geared for the beginning genealogist, although experienced researchers will also find helpful information and tips. It will take place at 1 p.m. May 4 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown.
In addition to the class, attendees can schedule a two-hour private session with MVHS staff and visits to the Archives Library.
Cost for the workshop is $25 ($15 for MVHS members). Advance registration is required, and can be made at mahoninghistory.org, or by calling 330-743-2589.
Chorus is accepting summer bookings
YOUNGSTOWN
Just Friends, a volunteer community chorus comprised of 16 members and directed by Jodine Pilmer, is now accepting bookings for between May 30 and July 4.
