Hilltop Elementary School kindergarten students celebrated their moms at the school’s annual Muffins With Mom on April 12.

The students treated their mothers to a musical performance, with muffins for everyone in the cafeteria after the program.

Joe Maroni, Hilltop Elementary School principal, welcomed the moms to the program.

“Good afternoon and welcome to our annual Muffins with Mom. I am glad to see all of you here for our special program. Our kindergartners have worked really hard to prepare, and I know you will be proud of them. I’d like to thank the kindergarten teachers for all their help and, of course, Ms. Summers for all her hard work,” Maroni said.

Under the direction of Stephanie Summers, Hilltop music teacher, the kindergartners started their program with the “Hilltop Elementary Song,” following the Pledge of Allegiance.

“Since this is Muffins with Mom, I thought we should sing a song about muffins, and I only know one, so here’s our second song ‘The Muffin Man,’” Summers said.

The kindergartners continued their program with “Little Red Wagon” and “The More We Get Together.”

In between songs, the mothers were shown videos of the students, by class, answering the question “I love my mom because…” The kindergartners gave such answers as: she takes me to the park, she takes me to Kalahari, she takes good care of me, she brings me ice cream, she gives me hugs and kisses, she paints my nails, she plans my vacations, she makes me chocolate milk, she takes me to Chik-fil-A and, lastly, she loves me.

Before wrapping up the performance, Summers thanked the moms for coming.

“Before we sing our last song, I would like to thank you for coming today. Several of the children mentioned outings with mom in the videos, so our last song is about going to the zoo,” Summers said.

To end their performance, the students sang “We’re Going to the Zoo.”

After the performance, the moms met their children in the cafeteria for muffins and were able to enjoy some time with their kindergartners. They could also have their picture taken in photo booth provided by the school’s PTA to commemorate their special day.
