Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association is celebrating 100 years of amateur radio this year. The club is asking any former members or anyone with information about former members to reply. Northeast District of the American Association of University Women will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 27 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Center, 4400 Norquest Blvd., Austintown. Cost is $20 ($25 at the door) and includes programs, a continental breakfast and lunch. Keynote speakers will be Kayvonna White and Deanna Marchionda of TransAmerca speaking about investing and pay equity. Also speaking will be Cheryl Saffold, Warren city councilwoman, and state Sen. CLASSES

USA Dance will offer West Coast Swing lessons and general dancing May 19 at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. The schedule will be: Basics for Beginners at 5 p.m.; West Coast Swing lessons at 5:30; and open dancing to ballroom, Latin, swing and hustle from 6:15 to 9 p.m. Cost is $5 for USA Dance members, $10 for nonmembers and $3 for students. Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. May 11 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will cue line dances. The theme will be “1970s Disco.” This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Newcomers of Mahoning Valley will host its monthly luncheon meeting at Johnny’s in Boardman at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. A physical therapist from Mercy Health Outpatient Wellness Center will be speaking on how to prevent falls. The group will decide on upcoming dates and sign up for activities for next year. Travelers Group is meeting this month at the Tyler History Museum to hear a talk on the Titanic. Book club will meet May 2 and will discuss “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng. Needlework group will meet May 14 and movie group will meet May 22. Roundtowners and birthday group activity dates will be decided at the meeting. Be Kind To Your Mind, a Christian group, will meet at The Way Station, state Route 14, Columbiana, on Monday. This six-session group will include prayer, meditation, mindfulness and other resources for healing the mind and body. It will be led by Judy A. Shields, a counselor at Total Care Psychological Services in Boardman. She has conducted many groups at Beatitude House and other local organizations. SOCIETIES

Niles Historical Society will host its annual spring banquet and fundraiser at 6 p.m. Thursday at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St., Niles. The speaker will be Sean Posey, historian and author of the books “Lost Youngstown” and “Historic Theaters of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.” Plans are being made for Niles third-graders to visit the Ward-Thomas Museum in May to learn about local history. William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Kravitz Deli meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty Township.
