4-H Club meets, fills Easter eggs for hunt

CANFIELD

Members of Western Reserve Rangers 4-H Club recently filled 1,067 eggs with candy for the Community Easter Egg Hunt at the April meeting. Abby and Isabel Schors supervised the group. Members also signed up to help with the egg hunt, which will take place Friday. President William Reph was recognized for being elected vice president of the Mahoning County Junior Fair Board; Cooper Selley was congratulated for placing second in the 86th Annual Regional Spelling Bee; and junior camp counselors Natalia Kresic, Emma, Olivia and William Reph shared that this year’s theme will be “Paradise.”

On Tuesday, members with clothing projects will cut their projects out at the home of advisor Kathleen Moser. On April 24, the quilting group will meet at advisor Robin Reph’s home for the second workshop. Fliers were distributed for the Small and Exotic Animal Fun Show at the Canfield Fair Junior Fair Complex, which will be May 18.

Registration will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. The show is open to Cloverbuds and 4-H members. The club’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 9 at the Ellsworth Fire Hall.

Library to host train program

SALEM

The Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host “Trains and Railroads: Riding the Rails from the Past to the Future,” presented by John Barnett, amateur historian, in the Quaker Room, at 6:30 p.m. April 24. The program is an offering in the “Go Wild in the Park” series provided through the partnership of Salem Public Library and Salem Parks and Recreation Department. Registration is required for this program, which is free and open to the public. April Soup N Salad event set for April 25

The Palmy Chapter 114, Order of the Eastern Star will host its April Soup N Salad from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 25 at the Deerfield Masonic Hall, 2380 state Route 225. Menu includes a choice of soup: rosemary chicken, bacon and potato, cheese, vegetable beef, potato or chili; and also included will be tossed salad and dressings, crackers, breads, dessert and a beverage. Takeout orders will be available. Cost is $6 per person. Proceeds benefit the chapter’s operating expenses and philanthropic efforts.
