AAUW Trumbull will meet May 6

Traci Manning, curator of education for the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, recently addressed the Trumbull County Branch of American Association of University Women.

The club’s next meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. May 6 at the Trumbull County Veterans building, 253 E. Market St. The program chairwoman will be Sandy Bilovesky. The hospitality committee will be chaired by Pat Gojdics, Martha Ellers, Roselyn Gadd, Esther Gartland and Roz Jackson.

Manning also will be the guest speaker at noon April 18 at the Tyler History Center for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Bites and Bits meeting. She will discuss the ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic.

Cafaro Foundation awards $10k grant

The Colony Youngstown recently received a $10,000 grant from The Cafaro Foundation to help with start-up costs associated with creating certification training for developing professionals as well as displaced, and emerging workforce members who are looking to take advantage of new opportunities in the sustainable green-space field. ‚ã

The grant also will help pay for initial design costs for Emerald Corridor, a low impact development demonstration project that is being done in partnership with the Mahoning County Land Bank, Environmental Collaborative of Ohio, Taft Promise Neighborhood, Green Youngstown, Green Print Partners (AKRF) and the city of Youngstown on 14 properties located on Avondale and Boston avenues.

Society announces holiday hours

MERER, PA.

The Mercer County Historical Society will close at noon April 19 and remain closed April 20 - 22. The society hours of operation will resume April 23.
