Pruning Clinic

When: Today,1 p.m.

What: Join the experts to learn to prune in the orchard. We’ll prune a new tree, as well as the newer and established trees in the orchard. Apples and peaches will be featured, and there will be time for blueberry pruning at the end of the program. Walk-ins are welcome.

Where: White House Fruit Farm, 9249 state Route 62, Green Township.

4-H Dinner, Auction

When: Today, 6 p.m.

What: Ohio State University fans will delight with the opportunity to bring home an Urban Meyer-signed football, game tickets, weekend adventures and much more. All proceeds support Mahoning County’s local 4-H program.

Daffodil Weekend

When: Today and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What: Discover the delights of daffodils. Enter your prize bloom in the daffodil show, take the trolley or hike to Daffodil Meadow, and stroll through Fellows Riverside Gardens’ Narcissus collection.

Eagle Watch

When: Sunday, 8 to 10 a.m.

What: Bald eagles represent strength and freedom. Drop by to search for and observe these magnificent birds with Jeff Harvey. Limited parking.

Where: Mill Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, 2650 W. Calla Road, Canfield.

SPRING FLING

When: April 18, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m,

What: Grandparents and Grandkids Spring Fling. This event is for children age 7 and older accompanied by a grandparent. We’ll look for signs of the new season, hike, do crafts and more. Please bring a lunch and dress for the weather.

Where: Ford Nature Center, 840 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown.

Cost: Register and pay by Sunday. Call FRG 330-740-7116. Grandparent plus child, $20 for county residents; $22 nonresidents. Additional child or grandparent, $6.

Voices of the Night

When: April 19, 8:30 to 10 p.m.

What: Listen, search, catch, and release in the “froggiest place” in Mill Creek MetroParks. Flashlights recommended and boots required. Easy, 1 mile.

Where: Vickers Nature Preserve, 9260 Akron-Canfield Road, Ellsworth Township.

Cost: Free

HUMMINGBIRDS

When: April 22, 9:30 a.m. to noon.

What: April showers bring May flowers and also hummingbirds, which are native to the Americas and are among the smallest of birds, measuring about 3 inches. Join us for a morning of learning on how to attract them to your garden and property.

Where: Mahoning County OSU Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.

Cost: $15 per person
