Friends of the Mahoning River will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill, Youngstown. Parking is in the rear of the building. Calder Lenhart will give an update about his Eagle Scout project and the guest speaker will be Christine Zindarsic from the Environmental Design Group and Eastgate.

There also are openings for the Safety Paddle Training Class that will take place April 28 at the YMCA’s swimming pool. To participate, call Don Rex at 330-219-2459. Helping Hands Closet offers April deals

CANFIELD

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, has nearly new clothes for the entire family. Inventory clearance continues in April. Items will be $1 each, except jewelry, shoes, purses, prom and party dresses. Light purple tickets will showcase the cost of each item. Store hours are from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesdays. The store will be closed April 30 due to setting up for the garage sale to take place May 3 and 4.

Center to host annual meeting Monday

The annual meeting of the members of the Salem Community Center will take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Salem Community Center, 98 North Ellsworth Ave. The meeting will include the election of directors and any necessary amendments to the bylaws.

The Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host a class about how to customize your Android phone at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Quaker Room. Stephanie Peterson, technology instructor, will discuss how to make your own wallpaper, lock screens and how to customize ring tones and pictures for contacts.
