Salem 5, Canfield 1

CANFIELD

The Quakers beat Canfield for the first time in over 20 years. The Quakers (5-5) scored three runs in the first inning. After two hit batters and a base hit by sophomore Lane Rhodes loaded the bases, senior catcher Bryce Owen came through with a two-run single. That was quickly followed by an RBI single from freshman Blaise Exline. Salem starting pitcher Seth Seddon allowed one run on five hits and struck out four in a complete game. Adam Wilson hit a two-run single in the fifth. Canfield stats were not reported.

Hubbard 8, Liberty 5

HUBBARD

Eagles starter Ian Wukelich struck out four and walked two in four innings pitched. Lukas Mosora was 4 for 4 with two triples and two RBIs for Hubbard (6-7). Evan Jarvis had two hits and two RBIs and Athony Romo had a single and double with an RBI. Jimmy Polombo had a double and two RBI. Trevor Strohmeyer struck out seven in a complete-game loss. He also had two hits for the Leopards (3-7). Ty Mowery had two hits.

NILES

Zach Leonard got the win for the Red Dragons, allowing one run on three hits and four walks. Leonard struck out six in six innings of work and drove in a run. David Mays went 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Joe Gallo drove in two runs for the Red Dragons. Niles did not provide any information on Campbell, including lineup and pitchers.

South Range 9, Girard 3

GIRARD

The Raiders (8-1, 6-1 NE8) scored five runs in the fourth inning to rally from a three-run deficit. Trey Pancake, Ben Rivera, Dylan Dominguez and Brandon Mikos each had two hits, with Mikos and Rivera each hitting a double. Nick Habeth threw a complete game for South Range, giving up seven hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Matt Miles took the loss for Girard (4-5, 3-4). Austin Clausell, Devin Dutton and Braydon Freeland each had an RBI.

Mathews 7, Maplewood 5

VIENNA

Jake Miller had two hits and four RBIs, including a bases-clearing, two-run double in the sixth to deliver the win for the Mustangs (7-1). Hunter Schoenfeld got the win in relief with three strikeouts and one walk. Hunter Bates had two hits for Maplewood.

ATWATER

Garrett Cox tossed a 7-hit shutout for Lisbon. He struck out four with no walks. Logan Bell and Jaikep Entrikin each hit a double for the Blue Devils. Trey Huth and Devin Beans each had two hits for Waterloo.

East Palestine 16, Heartland Christian 6

COLUMBIANA

Cameron Wisherman and Jordan Fristik each had four hits for East Palestine (3-7), with Wisherman adding a double. Zach Labon and Nate Garzanich each had a double for Heartland Christian (4-4). Hayden Stewart added two hits.

VIENNA

Jake Miller had two hits and four RBIs, including a bases-clearing, two-run double in the sixth to deliver the win for the Mustangs (7-1). Hunter Schoenfeld got the win in relief with three strikeouts and one walk. Hunter Bates had two hits for Maplewood.

BERLIN CENTER

Colton Stoneman drove in two runs for LaBrae. Ashton Dunbar pitched a complete game for the Vikings, striking out five while giving up two hits. Malakai Roberts and Lucas Lancaster had two hits each for LaBrae. Dan Windham had a double for Western Reserve (6-2).

STRUTHERS

Lorenzo Russo led Fitch with a double, triple, and two RBI. Bobby Cavalier and Jake Lawrence added two hits each.

WARREN

Freshman pitchers Payton Zupko and Dom Medina kept the Rams in the game against the Raiders. No other details were reported.

NORTH JACKSON

Harrison Lay earned his first career win for the Blue Jays. He struck out nine in four innings. Lay allowed just two hits and a walk. Jackson-Milton scored seven runs in the second inning and Nick Rich’s bases-loaded hit in the fifth ended the game. Rich, Frankie Prozy, James Harris and Jeremy Seka led the Blue Jays at the plate.

LaBrae 4, Ursuline 3

LEAVITTSBURG

Arianna Geordan allowed three runs on five hits and two walks for LaBrae. Geordan struck out eight, but allowed home runs to Julia Nutter and Paige Ogden. Nutter had two RBIs for the Irish while Gia Caldrone had a single and a double for Ursuline. Tiana Drake, Marissa Roberts and Corrina Morrow drove in one run each for the Vikings. Emily Holland allowed four runs — three earned — on six hits and a walk. Holland stuck out four in six innings of work.

Champion 2, Massillon Perry 0

CHAMPION

Allison Smith pitched a four-hitter and struck out nine as the Golden Flashes (10-1) beat the Panthers (9-1) in a battle of defending state champions. Champion won the Division II title in 2018 and Perry won the Division I championship. Emma Gumont had two hits, including a double, for the Golden Flashes. Panthers pitcher Payton Gotshall scattered six hits and struck out six. Champion scored single runs in the second and fifth innings.

South Range 7, Girard 3

GIRARD

Brooke Sauerwein ripped two triples and drove in three runs and Julie Centofanti singled twice as the Raiders (8-3, 7-2 Northeast 8) beat the Indians. Bree Kohler added a triple and struck out seven in the circle for the victory. She did not walk a batter. Samantha Dohy doubled twice, Hannah Jones singled and tripled and Seyhan Dede had two singles for Girard. Sophie Griffith and Jade Jones each had a triple for the Indians.

Lowellville 11, Sebring 1

LOWELLVILLE

Sammie Kelly had three singles, stole four bases, scored three runs and had two RBIs for the Rockets (7-4, 3-4 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference). Madison Kelly had two doubles and a single, stole three bases and drove in three runs. She also scored three times. K.C. Kelly had three singles and two steals. Madison Kelly pitched six innings and struck out five.

Lisbon 13, Waterloo 3

ATWATER

The Blue Devils beat the previously unbeaten Vikings (7-1, 5-0 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference). No stats were reported for Lisbon. Amber Cieplinski supplied all the Waterloo runs with a three-run homer in the first inning. She later had a single.

SALEM

Elly Exline, Taylor Thorpe and Rylie Troy each had three hits for the Quakers and Troy scored three runs. Taylor Thorpe took the loss despite striking out 10. Sarah Chunko hit a home run for the Dukes and Angela Cirone had three hits, including a triple.

LIBERTY

Spencer Christopher pitched all five innings, allowing six hits and striking out four. The Blue Jays had nine hits. Megan Fultz got Jackson-Milton on the board with an RBI single. Chelsea Williams, Camryn Mitchell and Spencer Christopher each had two hits and an RBI. Abby Spalding also had a single. No stats were reported for Liberty.

West Branch 10, Alliance 1

BELOIT

Delany Rito struck out 13 and walked one in a four-hitter. Jordan Anderson drove in three runs for the Warriors (10-2, 5-1 Eastern Buckeye Conference). Sydney Mercer and Peyton Alazaus had one RBI each. Corryne Phillips drove in the Aviators’ only run. Hannah Runion took the loss for Alliance (4-5, 1-4 EBC), allowing 11 hits and two walks while striking out four.

Badger 11, Grand Valley 6

ORWELL

Grand Valley led 5-4 after the bottom of the third inning, but the Braves scored four runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead for good. Haylee Mott drove in three runs for the Braves and Erica Ramsey had two RBIs. Emma Sullivan had two RBIs for the Mustangs. Ashlee Lennox earned the win, pitching 21/3 innings of relief. Lennox allowed two unearned runs on a hit and a walk.

Newbury 14, Southington 3

NEWBURY

Emma Bock got the win for the Black Knights, striking out seven and walking six. Avery Ryan had five singles for Newbury and Haley Hamilton had four. Teammate Madison Fink had two singles and a double while Jordan Bullis doubled. No stats were reported for Southington.

East Palestine 6, Springfield 4

EAST PALESTINE

East Palestine scored four runs in the sixth to pull ahead of Springfield. Jacqueline Kish had two hits and Molly Pontius hit an RBI-double. Abby Joseph struck out eight and walked one while taking the loss for the Tigers. No stats were reported for East Palestine.

VIENNA

Ashley Deans had three hits, including a solo home run, for two RBIs for Mathews (5-4). Kylie Nicholson added two doubles for three RBIs and Becca Landis and Grace Simon each had two hits. Emily Nay had a walk and a strikeout while taking the loss for Maplewood (4-4).

HUBBARD

Grace Narkum drove in the winning run on a double in the bottom of the seventh inning for a walkoff Hubbard win. Narkum finished with two RBI. Emily Filicky and Giavanna Hosack had three RBI each for the Eagles. Emily Darlington had a double and a triple and two RBI for Howland.

BERLIN CENTER

Tori Long was the winning pitcher, striking out 13 while giving up just two hits for Columbiana. Long also led the Clippers offense, hitting a three run home run and adding a base hit. Maci Linhart added three hits. Western Reserve was led by Jen Heater and Madison Gatto with one hit each.

Brookfield 16, Lordstown 11

LORDSTOWN

Bailey Drapola hit a three run homerun for Brookfield. Ali Breighner had three hits for the Warriors and drove in two runs. Becca Litz and Morgan McNamara also drove in two runs.

BRISTOLVILLE

Kayla Switzer led Bristol with a pair of triples and four RBI. Switzer was also the winning pitcher, striking out nine. Kendyl Switzer had three hits and three RBI, and Alayna Sines, Emily Bush, and Alexis Shafer all had two RBI for the Panthers. Billie Miller homered for Bristol. Racheal DeFranco had a triple for Bloomfield.

The Canfield Cardinals (8-3) takes a win over Lake 9-5. Sarah Grohovsky lead the Cardinals with 3 goals. Isabella Kelty had two goals. Emily Wilson, Ally Wilson, Hannah Crowe, and Tara Santoro had a goal each. Tara Santoro had an assist as did Athena Poulas. Mara Guerreri had 12 saves for the Cardinals.

Cardinal Mooney 11, Akron SVSM 6

AKRON

Maeghan Williams led the Cardinals (10-1) with three goals. Mia Stana, Katie Enright, Lexi Saunders and Olivia Alfano each added two. Annie Driscoll had 15 saves.
