Girls varsity track defeats Howland

The Boardman Lady Spartans track and field team recently traveled to Howland to defeat the Lady Tigers with a score of 84-53 to improve their record to 5-0 on the season.

The 4x800 relay of Raegan Burkey, Gina Gabriele, Bailey Moore and Macy Potts opened up the scoring with a first place finish.

Kaylin Burkey then finished first in the 100 high hurdles with her teammate Keimanni Boyd finishing second. Destinee Hayes then finished first in the 100 meter dash. In the 1600, Julia Gorby finished third in her first race of the season.

The 4x100 relay of Keimanni Boyd, Hayes, Dreā€™Ana Elliott and Brigita Ositis finished in first. The Lady Spartan trio of Raegan Burkey, Emma Tokarsky and Alayna Cuevas swept the 400. Kaylin Burkey won her second event of the night in the 300 low hurdles, with teammate Jordan Solmen finishing third. Sophia McGee and Hannah Ryan finished first and second in the 800. Hayes took first in the 200 with teammate Julia Schrembeck finishing third in her season debut. Isabelle Dwyer was the second place finisher in the 3200. The 4x400 relay of Alayna Cuevas, Salina Jackson, Emma Tokarsky and Raegan Burkey finished the track events with a victory in the event. In the field events the quartet of Kaylin Burkey, Lanny Kilpatrick, Haley Ho and Ryleigh Neill swept the high jump. In the shot, put Emily Carnahan finished second with teammate Annia Robles finishing third. In the discus, Carnahan also took second with teammate Ositis finishing third. Lanny Kilpatrick finished in first in the pole vault with her teammate Kenzie Widrig finishing third.
