The Michael Kusalaba library hosted a 3Doodler event on April 3.
Community members were able to attend and use the 3D pens, called 3Doodlers, to create works of art.
“It’s just a lot of fun, it’s a cool tool that everyone should have the chance to use,” said librarian Samantha Schneider who organized the event.
The pens were on loan from the Austintown library where they are used regularly in their after school program.
Community members used the pens to free hand projects.
They were also able to use book provided by the library with outlines to create more advanced projects.
“It can be hard or it can be simple,” Schneider said, “It really is a tool anyone can use.”
She explained that the 3D pens are a smaller version of the 3D printer used in the library’s Maker Space.
Both use a polymer which has a low melting point, making it perfect to create 3D pieces of art.
The 3D printer at the MK library is able to be used by the public as long as participants take the Maker Space Orientation class, which is hosted once a week.
