Ursuline 8, Springfield 7

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Jeremy Kreuzwieser scored the winning run from an errant throw at third after he had singled and stole second base in the top of the sixth inning. Down 7-3, Springfield scored four runs in bottom of the fifth inning on John Slike’s single and Clayton Nezbeth’s double driving in Slike and Mitch Seymour. Nezbeth scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Jeremy Kreuzwieser had three hits while Colin Balas, Vince Armeni and Andrew Sabella all had two hits. Armeni hit a three-run homer in the second inning. Seymour had two hits and Nezbeth and Chris Thompson each had a double. Joel Kreuzwieser got the win, striking out a pair in two innings of one-hit ball. Jarrett Orbin took the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits and four walks. He struck out seven in 51/3 innings.

Niles 6, Howland 3

NILES

Niles jumped out to a 5-0 lead after scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning and three in the second. Joe Gallo and Corbin Foy each had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored for the Red Dragons. Gallo hit a home run. Zack Leonard and Nick Guarnieri also drove in runs for Niles. Austen Price went 3 for 3 with two RBIs for the Tigers while Frankie Manios also drove in a run. Brandon Hayes allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks for the Red Dragons. Hayes struck out three in a complete game. Manios allowed six runs — three earned — on seven hits and a walk. He struck out two in six innings.

Salem 4, West Branch 3

SALEM

Salem broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning as Adam Wilson helped his own cause with a go-ahead RBI single. Adam Wilson allowed three runs on six hits and three walks for the Quakers (4-5, 3-3 Eastern Buckeye Conference). Darius Beck tied the game for the Quakers with an RBI single in the fourth. Adam Wilson also had a including a double and scored a run. Mason Walker took the loss, allowing four runs — one earned — on four hits and three walks. Walker struck out three in five innings of work. Brock Hillyer and Nick Wilson had two hits each for the Warriors (5-4, 2-3).

Liberty 3, Champion 1

CHAMPION

Dwight Parker pitched a complete game for Liberty (3-6, 3-3), striking out nine while giving up three hits and two walks. At the plate, he had an RBI. Teammate Billy Kocher had a hit and two runs scored. Abe Bayus struck out eight in five innings while taking the loss for Champion (6-1, 5-1).

Crestview 12, Campbell 3

CAMPBELL

Tanner Daub and Issac Ricketts combined to limit Campbell to four hits. Daub threw the first four innings, striking out four and walking two. Ricketts gave up one hit and struck out five. Keith Berger hit a double and collected three RBIs. James Fitzgerald had a hit and four RBIs for Crestview (9-2, 6-0). Henry Falcon, Jarid Armeni, Collins Michaels and Nafre Falcon each had a hit for Campbell, who had seven errors.

Mathews 14, Southington 0

VIENNA

Justin Iceman struck out five and walked two in a one-hitter for the Mustangs. Iceman had two hits and drove in four runs. Ethan Hall and Zach Rhodanz each had four hits for Mathews. Gabe Canter had three hits while Brad Perry, Jon Goff. Hall, Rhodanz and Miller drove in three runs each for the Mustangs (6-1). Dylan Dye took the loss, allowing three walks without a strikeout.

Lowellville 6, Heartland Christian 2

STRUTHERS

Ricky Cutter struck out six over six innings in the Rockets’ victory. Vinnie Kacir went 2 for 2 and Cole Bunofsky had two RBIs. Tom Kling had a double, scored a run and drove in one for the Lions. Nate Garzanich had also had a double for Heartland Christian (4-3).

Bristol 17, Maplewood 7

MECCA

Maplewood led 5-2, but the Panthers scored 15 runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings. Nick Church got the win, striking out six and walking one. Jeremy Miller had four hits for Bristol and Matt Church had two. Mike Wiebe hit a double and a triple for the Panthers. Seth Mooney led Bristol (7-3, 4-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference) with three RBIs while Matt Stephens, Matt Church, Nick Church and Miller drove in two runs each. Shane Swogger took the loss, striking out five and walking three. Haden Mendik had three hits and two RBIs for the Rockets (3-3, 1-2).

Edgewood 3, LaBrae 0

LEAVITTSBURG

Frank Sloan struck out six and held LaBrae to three hits and a walk for Edgewood. Colton Zappitelli had two hits for the winning side. Phillip Barnhart had two hits for Labrae.

Hickory 18, Greenville 3

HERMITAGE, PA.

Cam Whalen homered, doubled twice and drove in six runs for the Hornets. Andrew Gay had a pair of doubles and 4 RBIs and Jorge Leedham went 3 for 4. Nick Osborne earned the win for the Hornets (4-1).

CHAMPION

Sophie Howell pitched a five-inning perfect game, striking out 13, for the Golden Flashes (9-1, 6-0 All-American Conference Blue Tier). Brooklynn Whitt had three hits and Abbi Grace and Cassidy Shaffer each had two hits for Champion.

Cardinal Mooney 12, Richmond Edison 2

BOARDMAN

Freshman Alaina Francis belted a two-run homer and pitched a three-hitter for the Cardinals (8-1). Mooney’s Caitie Perry was 3 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Lexi Diaz and Conchetta Rinaldi each had a two-run double and Carley Francis had two hits for the Cardinals. Mikayla Petrisko singled and scored for Edison (6-5).

Brookfield 6, Newton Falls 5

NEWTON FALLS

Bailey Drapola singled, double and homered and the Warriors survived a three-run homer by the Tigers’ Emily Knight in the bottom of the seventh. Chloe Willrich and Autumn Sirochman each had two hits for Brookfield and Knight and Zoe MacElrath each had two for Newton Falls. Autumn Sirochman and Morgan McNamara each had two RBIs for the Warriors. Knight drove in four runs for the Tigers. Brookfield’s Gabby Schiska struck out four in the victory.

Waterloo 7, Mineral Ridge 6

ATWATER

Amber Cieplinski homered and singled and Memory Lyons homered for the second time in two days as the Vikings (7-0, 5-0) beat the Rams. Brooke Twichell went 5 for 5 with a double and 3 RBIs and Grace Gombeda and Mackenzie Deem each singled twice. Mineral Ridge’s Riley Ladd went 3 for 4 with a double. Courtney Boyer homered and drove in two runs and Haleigh Taylor hit a three-run double for the Rams.

Crestview 17, Campbell 0

CAMPBELL

Kaedyn Sutton had four hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs for the Rebels (13-2, 6-0 All-American Conference Blue Tier) in a five-inning win over the Red Devils. Skyler Mattern added four hits and four RBIs and Karsyn Moore had four hits and two RBI’s. Haley Eskra and Madi Wick each had three hits. Eskra picked up her second win of the season, striking out five and allowing just two hits.

LOWELLVILLE

Jacqueline Kish threw a three-hitter, striking out nine and allowing just four baserunners. Kish also led Springfield with smacked three doubles and a single, driving in five runs and scoring three times. Mya Duskey also had four hits, including a double. Duskey also drove in three runs and scored twice. Marlie Applegarth hit four singles, drove in two runs and scored three times. Abby Joseph smacked three singles, drove in a run and scored three times. Makenzy Capouellez singled, doubled and tripled for the Tigers. Capouellez drove in two runs and scored once. Kaelen Yemma had a triple for Springfield.

Lena Wallace threw a perfect game for Mathews (4-4), striking out three in five innings. Ashley Deans hit two home runs for two RBIs. Kylie Nicholson hit a triple and had two RBIs. Hannah Mangus and Becca Landis each had three hits for the Mustangs.

LaBrae 18, Edgewood 7

LEAVITTSBURG

Marissa Roberts went 5 for 5 with two runs scored and five RBIs for LaBrae. Roberts finished a home run shy of the cycle. Arianna Geordan and Molly Jones drove in three runs each for the Vikings. Desi Allen drove in a pair of runs while Natalie Sisler, Kaitlin Gibson and Corrina Morrow each had an RBI. Lucia Mozzocco and Heather Farr each drove in two runs for the Warriors. Mozzocco and Julianna Sloan both hit home runs. Allen allowed seven runs on eight hits and a walk in the win. Bella Varkett took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits in one inning pitched.

JEFFERSON

Riley Mesler drove in four runs for West Branch. Sydney Mercer had two RBIs for the Warriors (9-2) while Peyton Alazaus and Grace Heath each had one. Alazaus led the way with three hits and Mercer had two doubles. Delaney Rito struck out seven and allowed six hits and a walk in the win. Tatianna Matuz took the loss for the Falcons (6-3), allowing 11 hits and two walks while striking out three.

KINSMAN

Badger’s Kyler Morgan was the only player in the game with an RBI by getting two off a triple. Samantha Pykare was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and gave up four hits and a walk. The run was unearned. Ruth Kaiser had two hits for Bloomfield.
