Terre Haute, Ind.

The Youngstown State women’s golf team set a school record for lowest 18-hole performance for the second time this season on its way to a second-place finish in the Indiana State Invitational at The Country Club on Terre Haute.

Five Penguins finished in the top 15 of Monday’s individual standings.

YSU posted a two-round team score of 585 to finish seven strokes behind California Baptist.

The Penguins posted a school-record 285 (-3) in the first round on Sunday to take a six-shot lead, and fired a 300 in the final round.

Puthita Khuanrudee finished third with a career-low two-round 144 (71-73).

Katlyn Shutt finished one stroke behind Khuanrudee with a two-round 145 (69-76). The junior claimed her fourth top-five finish of the season, and her sixth in the top 10.

Rattika Sittigool turned in a career-low two-round mark of 148 (71-77) to finish in a tie for eighth. Jenna Vivo (Boardman) matched her career-best 36-hole score with a 152 (74-78) to finish tied for 15th.

Playing as an individual, Megan Creager shot a two-round 168 (83-85).

Youngstown State has finished first or second in six of the 10 events it has played this season.

YSU’s first-round 285 bested the school record of 286 set at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational in September.

The team’s first-round performance was the only round of par or better during Sunday’s first round, and one of only two for the entire tournament.

The Penguins’ two-round mark of 585 ranks as the third-lowest 36-hole score in program history. YSU has now carded the three lowest 36-hole team marks in school history this season. The group set the school record with a 577 at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational.
