AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Rehabilitation Services, a service of Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, has moved into a new facility at 1450 S. Canfield-Niles Road formerly occupied by Falcon Therapy.

The facility offers pediatric speech therapy, physical and occupational therapy for adults and pediatrics, ergonomic evaluations, functional capacity evaluations, industrial rehabilitation, lymphedema treatment, pre-employment testing, sports medicine and work simulation and conditioning, said Krista McFadden, president of Hillside.

Strong bones workshop

The Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center, 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, Suite D3, Southbridge West Complex, is offering a Strong Bones Workshop presented by Dr. Ted Suzelis, N.D. from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Rabies shots offered

DAMASCUS

The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering a rabies vaccination clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Damascus Fire Department, 14860 S. Pricetown Road (state Route 534). In Mahoning County, all dogs, cats, and ferrets over 3 months are required to be vaccinated against rabies.

The cost is $8 per shot, cash only. No appointment is necessary. Pet owners must have their pets on a leash, in a cage, or carried inside a pillowcase. This clinic does not include a physical examination of the animal; and the veterinary staff reserves the right to not vaccinate any animal if they believe the animal appears to be in poor health.

To receive the 3-year booster, proof of prior rabies vaccination on or after April 13, 2018, is required. Without proof of prior vaccination, the pet will receive a 1-year vaccination only.

Rabies is a preventable, potentially deadly, viral disease most often transmitted through bites and scratches from unvaccinated pets, and stray animals. The clinic is sponsored by the county health department and the Damascus Ruritan Club, and volunteer services are provided by Lisa Kurtz, D.V.M., East Park Veterinary Clinic.
