Daffodil Weekend, the annual celebration of spring flowers, is next weekend at Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave. Contestants can enter a bloom in the daffodil show from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The daffodil show, which will be open to the public, free of charge, will be 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 14. Guests can also stroll through the Gardens at 1 p.m. Saturday as part of a guided walk to see the more than 200 different species and cultivars in the Narcissus collection. Take a Cohasset Express trolley ride at 12:30 p.m. April 14 from the Gardens to Lake Newport to explore Daffodil Meadow or a hike to Daffodil Meadow at 2 p.m. with the Wild Women of Mill Creek. The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University will continue its free Music at Noon concert series at the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday with a performance by the clarinet studio. Also on the schedule are the Dana guitar ensemble on April 17; and the YSU Barbershop Chorus on April 24. All recitals begin at 12:15 p.m. in the museum’s Beecher Court.
Baird Brothers is lecture topic
