CANTON

Ian Francis scored the only run and Jordan Sheehan doubled for the Cardinals. J.T. Ogden (1-1) tossed the four-hit shutout.

Girard 5, McDonald 3

GIRARD

Matt Miles had two hits and two RBIs and the Indians took advantage of eight walks by McDonald pitchers. Girard led 3-0 entering the sixth, but McDonald tied the game with three runs in the top of the inning. The Indians, however, regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Alex Delgarbino worked one-and-two-thirds shutout innings of relief for the win. Miles started and allowed five hits and three runs in 51/3 innings. Ryan Scala had two hits and drove in a run for the Blue Devils.

Austintown Fitch 10, Niles 6

AUSTINTOWN

The Falcons scored in each of the first five innings and held on to beat the Red Dragons. Alarik Sierra and Lorenzo Russo each had three hits and Bobby Cavalier had two hits and three RBIs. Russo and Cavalier each had a double. Jake Lawrence got the win for Fitch. Corbin Foy had two hits for Niles. Ken Flanigan and Nick Guarnieri each had a double and Joe Gallo and Zack Leonard each had a triple.

Heartland Christian 5, Brookfield 4

EAST PALESTINE

Tom Kling hit a triple and hit a walk-off single in the seventh. Eric Shingledecker took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out three for the Warriors in 22/3 innings of relief. Caleb Graft struck out three and walked one while allowing an unearned run in three innings for the Lions (3-1). Graft also drove in the game-tying RBI in the seventh. John Hiner had two singles for Brookfield (1-6). Warriors starter TJ Laverty struck out eight while allowing three runs on four hits and two walks in four innings pitched.

Bristol 3, Liberty 2

LIBERTY

Panthers pitcher Mike Wiebe scattered five hits and helped his own cause with a single and a double. Matt Stephens paced Bristol (5-2) with three hits and Gage Elza had two.

Struthers 11, St. Thomas Aquinas 0

STRUTHERS

Jared Laczko tossed a one-hitter for Struthers, striking out seven. Anthony Monaco had four RBIs on three hits and Jacob McQueen had three RBIs on four hits.

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Nick Slike had two hits for the Tigers while John Slike and Jarrett Orbin each doubled. Chris Thompson allowed one hit in five innings to get the mound win. Brody Swigonski had the G-Men’s only hit.

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Brannon Brungard and Michael Seymour each had two hits for the Tigers. Seymour, Drew Clark and Thompson all doubled. John Slike earned the pitching win in relief of Shane Eynon who allowed no hits. Information on East Palestine was not provided.

Lowellville 11-15, Leetonia 1-2

LEETONIA

Dylan Durkin and Mike Donatelli each had two hits and two RBIs for the Rockets in the first game of a doubleheader. Bryan Harris picked up the win on the mound and doubled twice at the plate. For Leetonia, Sefton Houlette and Dylan Lennon had base hits. Vinnie Kacir drove in three runs in the second game and Matt Hvisdak, Dylan Durkin, Nick Wellington and Cole Bunofsky each had two RBIs. Houlette had two hits for Leetonia. Ricky Cutter picked up the win on the mound for the Rockets.

Western Reserve 10, Columbiana 0

COLUMBIANA

Ryan Slaven hit two doubles and scored twice for the Blue Devils (5-0). Also hitting doubles were Dan Widham, Nick niemi and Caleb Quinn. Jake Papagallo scored twice and Brycen Jackson had two hits. Riley McElwain (0-1) allowed three runs in the four innings he pitched for the Clippers (3-3). Brady Dixon led the Clippers’ bats with three hits. Chase Franken, Wayne Davis and Tyler Andersen had hits.

Grand Valley 1, West Branch 0

BELOIT

The Mustangs (3-2) broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the eighth inning and held on to beat the Warriors (4-4) in a non-conference game. GV’s Nick Reichek worked the first seven innings and allowed three hits and three walks. He struck out three. Gordon Seger pitched a scoreless eighth for a save. Seger also led the Mustangs with two hits. Mason Walker pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out eight for West Branch. He walked one. Zach Steel came on the in the eighth and took the loss, allowing two hits and walk. Cole Bates had two hits for the Warriors.

Crestview 11-6, East Liverpool 4-2

EAST LIVERPOOL

In the first game, James Fitzgerald had three hits including a double and three RBIs. Keith Burger, Carter Blakeman and Devin Turvey each had a double. In the second game, Sam Campbell, Tyler Hurd, Jordan Van Pelt and Turvey combined to limit the Potters to five hits. No stats were reported for the Potters in either game.

Slippery Rock 6, Hickory 4

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Slippery Rock took advantage of 10 walks by three Hickory pitchers in a victory. Zack Thompson, David Duffalo and Nathaniel Willison each walked twice. Willison drove in two runs and Zach Caldwell had two hits. Asher Patton took the loss for the Hornets (2-1). Andrew Gay had three hits and Jorge Leedham had two, including a double, for Hickory.

Cardinal Mooney 16, Magnificat 6

BOARDMAN

The Cardinals’ 15-hit attack was led by Conchetta Rinaldi’s two triples and three runs scored. Carly Francis had three hits while Alaina Scavina, Alaina Francis and CJ Sapp all doubled. Gia DiFabio had two hits. Maddie Filisky was the winning pitcher. For Magnificat (4-5), Sarah Gebbs’ three hits included a double.

BOARDMAN

Bunts by Caitie Perry and DiFabio and Filisky’s RBI single led the Cardinals (7-0). Sapp’s steal of third base led to an overthrow and a run. For Boardman (6-4), Maddie Lester struck out five batters. Kathryn O’Horo and Laura Maughan doubled and Jenna Alexa had two hits.

Ursuline 14, Edgewood 7

YOUNGSTOWN

Destiny Goodnight went 4 for 4 for the second straight game as the Irish beat the Warriors in the opening game of the 13th annual JoAnne Kernan Strikeout Cancer Memorial. Maris Barbato added three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Emily Holland added two singles, a double and 4 RBIs and Julia Nutter had a single, double and two RBIs for Ursuline. Edgewood’s Lucia Mozzocco had a single and a bases-loaded double and Julianna Sloan had a three-run triple. Emma Ericson struck out seven in 52/3 innings for the victory.

Ursuline 19, Geneva 3

YOUNGSTOWN

Goodnight had four hits for the Irish (8-0). Kaylee Repp and Ayva Fedor had three hits each including two doubles and three RBIs. Madelyn Miklandric hit two triples while Paige Ogden and Barbato each hit home runs. Holland hit an RBI double and got the mound win, giving up two hits and striking out five in for innings. Midaliz Alvarez hit an RBI triple and Brittany Podluzne doubled for Geneva.

Salem 4, East Palestine 2

EAST PALESTINE

Taylor Thorpe stuck out 15 while allowing 0 earned runs, two hits and a walk. She added two hits at the plate. Meg Rossero hit a triple for the Quakers (3-2). Delany Early hit a single for the Bulldogs.

Lowellville 10-14, Leetonia 3-1

LEETONIA

KC Kelly had three singles, three RBIs and two runs scored in the opener. Kira Sontag had three singles while Sammie Kelly had two hits and scored three runs. Callie Kester tripled and doubled to drive in two runs. She scored twice. Winning pitcher Madison Kelly struck out four in tossing a three-hitter. For the Bears, Allison Francosky doubled and Chloe Dale and Megan Rosko had singles. In the second game, Sammie Kelly hit two doubles off the fence and scored twice. Maddie Kelly doubled and singled to drive in two runs. Brittany Chaibi singled twice and scored twice. CKester, Kira Sontag and Kate Coppola each drove in three runs. For the Bears, Haleigh Brock’s two hits included a double that drove in a run.

Poland 13, New Castle Union 4

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Brooke Bobbey picked up her first win of the season for undefeated Poland (7-0), striking out five and walking four. KaiLi Gross pitched the final two innings, stiking out four. Cam Lattanzio, Lauren Sienkiewicz and Abby Farber each had three hits and two RBIs. Halaena Blakely went 3 for 3 for New Castle Union and Shae-Lynn Quinn had two RBIs.

Poland 8, Lincoln 6

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Ashley Wire hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the third inning. On the mound, she struck out seven and gave up six hits and no walks while working the whole game for Poland (7-0). Cam Lattanzio led the Bulldogs with threes hits. Natalia Greco and Maria Ioanilli each had two hits for Lincoln.

South Range 4, Barberton 0

STOW

The Raiders (4-3) scored all four runs in the sixth. Hanna Dennison and Julie Centofanti each had two hits. Bree Kohler allowed two hits and a walk while striking out seven to get the win.

South Range 10, Stow 2

STOW

Centofanti had four RBIs on three hits for South Range (4-3) and freshman Reagan Irons got her first varsity win. Irons allowed two runs while scattering eight hits, two walks and struck out two. Marlaina Slabaugh, Kohler and Dennison each had two hits.

Massillon Perry 10, Austintown Fitch 1

MASSILLON

The Panthers’ Peyton Gottshall pitched a one-hitter, allowing only a double by the Falcons’ Lydia Spalding, in shutting out Fitch in a non-conference game. Gottshall also helped herself with two singles and a double and Missy Holzopfel each two singles, a double and four RBIs. Alycia Cunningham hit a solo home run for Perry (6-0). Fitch is 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the All-American Conference’s Red Tier.

Brookfield 12, Pymatuning Valley 0

BROOKFIELD

Gabby Shiska struck out nine and walked one in a one-hitter. Ashley Graves took the loss for the Lakers, allowing 17 hits and striking out two. Chloe Willrich and Bailey Drapola both went 4 for 4 for the Warriors. Drapola hit two three-run home runs and Willrich added a two-run shot. Ali Breightner and Autumn Sirochman had multiple hits for Brookfield. Breightner had two RBIs.

Mineral Ridge 10, Struthers 5

STRUTHERS

Morgan Sigley and Ariel Laneve each slugged a two-run homer and Riley Ladd went 3 for 4 with two doubles for the Rams. Sigley finished with five RBIs and Laneve drove in four runs. Macie Smith homered and drove in two runs for Struthers. Trinity Farrar had two hits, including a double and scored twice for the Wildcats. Nicolina Pezzone had three hits including a double, and Alyssa Ferguson had two hits, including a double and two RBIs.

Jackson-Milton 15, Niles 1

NORTH JACKSON

Katie Mitchell and Megan Fultz combined on a three-hitter as the Blue Jays beat the Red Dragons. Jenna Jones, Abby Spalding, Dana Saunders and Taylor Sahli each had two hits for Jackson-Milton. Spencer Christopher singled and a tripled and Mitchell hit a double. Dillinger, Spalding, Logan Grunder, Mitchell, Christopher and Sahli all had RBIs.

North Canton Hoover 7, West Branch 4

NORTH CANTON

Faith Kiko doubled and drove in three runs for the Vikings (4-2). For the Warriors, Peyton Alazaus hit two doubles and drove in a run. Grace Heath had three hits and Delaney Rito two.

West Branch 11, Akron Springfield 2

NORTH CANTON

Alazaus’ four hits included a double and triple. She drove in a run for the Warriors (8-1). Sam Morris’ three hits included a homer and she drove in two runs. Sydney Mercer, Rito and Destany Blake each had two hits. For Springfield, Taylor Kern had two hits.

Newbury 23-23, Fairport Harbor 11-4

NEWBURY

Avery Ryan had four hits, including a double, and Haley Hamilton doubled twice and singled for the Black Knights in the first game of a doubleheader. Madison Fink also doubled twice and Jordan Bullis and Arianna Bock each had three singles for Newbury. Hamilton had four hits and Julia Elia and Jordan Bullis each had two in the second game.
