Chad Zallow, Collin Harden, Alan Burns and the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams earned wins for the Youngstown State track and field teams on Friday afternoon from the Northeast Ohio Quad at Farmers National Bank Field.

Alan Burns highlighted a successful afternoon for the Penguins by winning the 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 14:39.36. Burns also set a new facility record with his performance today. Freshman Chris Butler took third after posting a time of 15:15.22. For the women, Xena Maali ran a time of 19:49.35 and Emma Hunkusfinished in 20:43.66.

Zallow won the 110 hurdles as well as setting the facility record with a time of 13.71 seconds in Heat 1. Myron Anderson took fifth after finishing with the fastest time in his heat at 14.79 seconds. Freshman Jonathan Blackmon also competed in the event and clocked a time of 15.55 seconds.

A few events later, Zallow won the 200 dash after finishing with a time of 21.63 seconds. The Penguins also had third-, fourth- and fifth-place finishes from Jamynk Jackson (21.85), Josh Beaumont (21.93), and Brendon Lucas (21.99). Anderson was eighth after finishing in a time of 22.62 seconds.

Collin Harden won the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.283 seconds as he edged out Ashland’s Trevor Bassitt by .002 seconds. On the women’s side, Mara Wilson was fifth with a time of 1:06.44 and Lauren Swan was eighth after clocking a time of 1:11.40.

The men’s 4x100 relay team of Jamynk Jackson, Collin Harden, Josh Beaumont and Brendon Lucas won the event with a time of 41.55 seconds. The women’s relay team of Antonella LaMonica, Suerethia Henderson, Jaliyah Elliott and Teneisha Myers also won the event after finishing with a time of 46.62 seconds!

In the 3,000 steeplechase, Maggie Sebest was third with time of 11.34.39 and Ashleigh Rowley was fourth after running a time of 11.39.85.

For the women in the 100 hurdles, Destiny Washington finished with a time of 15.04 seconds while freshman Claire Vendemia clocked a time of 16.98 seconds.

Cody Sikora placed third in the 400 dash after finishing in a time of 49.58 seconds. Pierlus Stewart finished sixth (50.32), Glen Knowles took seventh (50.41) and Stefan Pontius posted a time of 54.13 seconds.

On the women’s side, Iva Domitrovich placed fourth after finishing Heat 1 with a time of 1:00.05 and Hailey Puckett was eighth after running a time of 1:02.98.

Lauren Dolak took fourth place in the 800 run after finishing with a time of 2:17.21. Sophomore Raquel Markulin was sixth after posting a time of 2:2645. For the men, Cole Lovett finished eighth with a time of 1:59.11 and Mikel Lagaras was 10th after clocking a time of 2:00.43.

Antonella LaMonica captured a fourth place finish in the 200 dash after finishing with a time of 26.17 seconds.

In the 1500 run, Jennifer Muhlenkamp finished sixth with a time of 4:47.30.

Terron Taylor was the lone competitor in the high jump for the Penguins and placed second after clearing a personal-best height of 2.03m.

On the women’s side, Abby Jones finished third after clearing the bar at 1.69m on her final attempt. Olivia Jones took fourth after clearing 1.61 meters on her second attempt and Kira Neef was sixth after clearing the bar at 1.56m. Coreen Crosby, Camryn Jarrett, Logan Mitchell and Hailey Puckett also competed in the event.

In the long jump, Daiquain Watson finished fourth after recording a leap of 6.82m. Samuel Challis recorded a mark of 6.65m on his third attempt and DuJuan Taylor had a jump of 6.28. On the women’s side, Jessica Stever recorded a third place finish after jumping 5.31 on her fifth attempt. Junior Chandler Killins was fifth with a leap of 5.09.

The meet continues at 10 a.m. today with the throwing events at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex at the University of Akron.
