Canfield Historical Society to host lecture

« Canfield Neighbors

The Canfield Historical Society will host a lecture titled “Baird Brothers: Then and Now” at 7 p.m. on April 11, at the Canfield Historical Society Bond House, located at 44 West Main Street.

The society will host Matt Baird from Baird Brothers, who will speak on his family business. Baird will speak from the beginning when three brothers started the saw mill on the family farm in 1960, up to today’s national enterprise which incorporates three generations of the family.

In an ongoing effort to highlight family-owned businesses, the Canfield Historical Society has presented lectures on such area businesses as Whitehouse Fruit Farm, Lane Funeral Homes and Agnew Farm Supply.

No pre-registration is required for the free lecture, and anyone is invited to attend, regardless of membership. For more information on the lecture, call the Canfield Historical Society at 330-533-3458.

The Canfield Historical Society continues its mission of collecting Canfield history with a scanning project where everyone who wants to participate is invited to do so. Attendants to the lecture are encouraged to bring any photos or documents relating to Canfield history to be scanned, adding to the society’s collection.
