Instructional concert at SMARTS location

The Youngstown Area Community Concert Band will present a free concert at 6 p.m. April 11 at the SMARTS (Students Motivated by the Arts) center in the Ohio One Building, 25 E. Boardman St., downtown.

The concert will be geared toward young people and their families. Students will hear how each section of the band fits together. After the concert, students can talk with the musicians to learn what it takes to play their instrument.

SMARTS is a community art school that provides free classes for school-age youth with a focus on underserved populations. All students are accepted. For an application, go to SmartsArtSchool.org.
