Canfield Lady Cards 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament — for girls in grades 7-12 will take place Oct. 13 at Canfield Village Middle School. Teams are guaranteed three games and allowed up to four players. The 8th Annual This Means War 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament — is looking for teams. Net proceeds from the event will benefit breast cancer survivor Jessica Gardner, a 35-year-old Brookfield High School teacher who was diagnosed with Stage III B breast cancer when she was eight-months pregnant. The double-elimination tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 13 at Southington High School. Each team can have up to four players. Only 50 teams will be accepted. Admission is free. The tournament, sponsored by Great Lakes Cheese/Adams Reserve and The Hope Center for Cancer Care, will feature an adult division and the following youth divisions: Grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Entry fee is $20 per youth player and $25 per adult player. Prices will increase by $5 per player after Oct. 7. No game-day registration will be accepted. Division winners will earn prizes ranging from trophies to $120 in gift cards to a $300 cash prize. A team also will win a free large pizza through the tournament’s Best Team Name contest.
