BOYS GOLF

Locals qualify for districts

Several local golfers advanced to districts while participating in three boys sectional tournaments Thursday.

In Division II, West Branch and South Range qualified as a team. The Warriors tied Waynedale for the top spot at Elms Country Club in Massillon with a 321. The Raiders came in third with a 347. No locals qualified as an individual.

Division II districts will be held at Windmill Lakes Golf Course in Ravenna on Tuesday.

Divsion III had two sectional events — one at Riverview Golf Course and one at Salem Hills Golf Club.

At Riverview, Brookfield won the event with a 291. McDonald came in second with a 329 and Warren JFK was third with a 341.

Mineral Ridge’s Jake Sylak qualified as an individual. He shot a 79. Bristol’s Nick Chirozzi (81) and Chase Kuchak (84) also qualified.

Columbiana was the only local team to advance at Salem Hills. The Clippers shot a 332 and finished second.

Campbell’s Dean Austalosh shot a 72 for the best individual score. Lisbon’s Austin Craig also advanced with an 83.

The Division III districts will be Thursday at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance.

Adam Connelly, Kevin Sobnosky and Luke Repasky each scored for Girard. Bailey McDermott made four saves for the Indians. Trent Boyle made two saves for the Red Dragons.

Jacob Wickline and Ryan Emch each scored twice for Crestview (10-2). Mitch Auer, Cort Dewell and Colt Crane also scored for the Rebels. Wickline had three assists.
