On Aug. 21, the Embroiderer’s Guild of Youngstown hosted a create a holiday tree design event at the Poland library.
The event, which was run by guild member Jean Chamberlin, ran from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Ruth Ebert, the guild’s outreach chairman, said that the group is putting on one event every month at various locations.
All supplies for the event are donated through the Embroiderer’s Guild.
Members of the guild also volunteer to assist in the teaching of the craft at the events, Ebert said.
During the Aug. 21 event, six members of the guild, including Ebert and Chamberlin, were available to assist participants. These members included Janis Finbeechie, Judy Power, Linda Gwinnup and Sue Robinson.
Ebert said the event started with an introduction by Chamberlin about the craft, and instructions on how to begin.
Each participant was also given a hand out with instructions for the craft to follow at their own pace. Each table then began the craft on their own, with volunteers walking around to assist throughout.
The final project was a Swedish weaving design of a Christmas tree that can be hung as an ornament, Ebert said.
The Embroiderer’s Guild of Youngstown meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month in Canfield.
The group has been active since 1974, and is always looking for new members according to Ebert.
