School to host community nights
CAMPBELL
Campbell Elementary Middle School students in kindergarten through seventh grade are invited to attend four community nights that are scheduled Thursdays throughout the 2018-19 school year. Each night will feature a different theme and offer a variety of food, fun, and academic activities for students and their parents to participate in. The first community night, which is game night, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the middle school. A Winter Festival Community Night will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6. After the New Year, two more community nights will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., including March 21 (March Madness) and May 23 (Cultural Night). All events are free.
Appreciation meals planned for Thursday

There will be two seatings, from 7 to 9 a.m., featuring breakfast burritos, donuts and coffee, and from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring burgers, hot dogs and more. Witches Night Out returns Saturday
VOLANT, PA
The 11th annual Witches Night Out will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday on Main Street. Participants will gather at dusk for a free night of fun with shopping, food, music, contests, costume, dance and cackle, a bonfire, and witches parade. Costumes are encouraged.
Contest registration is from 5 to 6 p.m.; the parade will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m.; and contests will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. DJ Dr. Glo will be playing music from 5 to 9 p.m. Daytime activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. include a farmer’s market. Proceeds benefit the Volant Mills’ restoration project. Volant is approximately 10 miles west of interstate 79 at exit 113 and approximately 10 miles east of interstate 376 at exit 5. Trainer raising money for cancer research
Coach Kate, from viral Facebook fitness group “Best You With Kate” will begin a 6-week fitness challenge Oct. 5 to raise money for breast cancer research. For each pound and inch challengers lose, Coach Kate and TEMA Roofing will each donate $1 to breast cancer research. The challenge is also open to men as breast cancer affects them too.
