v Apple Cider Festival, 6 to 11 p.m.: The cider-making process will be demonstrated at this annual event, which also includes craft vendors, a car show and entertainment. Admission is free. It’s on the grounds of Lordstown High School on Salt Springs Road.

v “Hollow,” 8 p.m.: A fresh take on the “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” tale ($15, $10 for senior citizens and students), presented by Rust Belt Theater at Calvin Center, 75 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown; 330-507-2358.

“Battlebots” (8 p.m., discovery): Its tournament time for this competition show that pits fighting robots against each other.

“Art in the Twenty-First Century” (10 p.m., PBS): Discover why post-Cold War Berlin became a haven for artists from all over the world.

Singers needed for ‘Messiah’

WARREN

All singers who would like to join the Warren Civic Chorus in its 60th annual performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” accompanied by the Warren Civic Chamber Orchestra, on Dec. 2 can attend the first rehearsal Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 N. Reeves Road.

The performance is being directed by Hae-Jong Lee, a professor of voice at Youngstown State University.

Performances will be Dec. 2, at 4 and 7 p.m. Dinner is provided between the two performances for all who participate.

YMCA seeks entries for art exhibition

BOARDMAN

The Davis Family YMCA, 45 McClurg Road, will accept entries for its annual But I Know What I Like art show Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Adults living within a 45-mile radius of the Davis YMCA are eligible to enter. Family-friendly art, in any medium, will be accepted within the parameters of the prospectus, which is available at the Y. The entry form can also be downloaded at youngstownymca.org or ymcaart.blogspot.com

The exhibit is judged by nonprofessionals, and proceeds support the John Patterson Memorial Scholarship for adults with neurological challenges.

The show will run Oct. 14-Nov. 17. The opening reception will take place Oct. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m.
