Steam locomotive rides will return

PENINSULA

The Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 765 will return to Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad this weekend and next.

Each year, the CVSR works with the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society to bring the steam engine to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Passengers can take a two-hour excursion with this historic locomotive at the helm and take advantage of a rare photo opportunity.

Tickets range from $25- $100. In addition to the coach, dome and deluxe cars, seating in traditional, open air and open window coaches will be available. All passengers age 3 and older must have a ticket. Children under the age of 3 may ride for free but must sit on a parent’s or guardian’s lap.

CVSR encourages guests to dress in 1940s and 1950s attire. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment by Akron Derbytown Chorus.

The excursions will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and again Sept. 28-30. The train departs from Rockside Road in Independence and Akron Northside Station.
