Apple Butter Festival planned for Friday

Ohio Living Park Vista, 1216 5th Ave., will host the 46th Annual Apple Butter Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The annual trash and treasure sale will also take place during this time in the Gathering Room.
Fresh apple butter will be made on-site with help from staff and volunteers. Locally-made apple butter will be available for purchase as well. Jars are on sale for $2 (half pint) and $4 (pint). Proceeds will benefit Ohio Living Life Care, which allows for those who responsibly outlive their funds to continue receiving care at Ohio Living Park Vista. In addition to apple butter, there will be a variety of food vendors and food trucks as well as lemon shakes, kettle corn and apple dumplings. Entertainment will include a dunk tank, strolling magician/juggler, balloon artist, stilt walker, giant lawn games such as Jenga, Kerplunk, lawn dice, cornhole and more. Proceeds from the dunk tank will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Library to host ‘Stitches in Time’
SALEM
Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host its “Stitches in Time” program from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, in the Quaker room. Anyone who enjoys knitting, tatting, crocheting and more can bring a project. Open and free to the public. No registration required.
The program takes place the third Wednesday of each month. New needle crafters are welcome. For information, call 330-332-0042.
Local author to host writing workshops
Local author Nancy Christie, will host writing workshops at Ohio libraries during September and October. Christie will present her “Rut-Busting” workshop for writers from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Cuyahoga County Library’s William N. Skirball Writer’s Center, South Euclid.
Steubenville Library —Schiappa Branch will host two workshops from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 29 and the second will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Registration is required.
Christie also will present a workshop from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Cleveland Public Library.

Veterans Outreach to host Flags of Honor

Veterans Outreach will sponsor Flags of Honor, a traveling memorial to honor veterans, at 3 p.m. Friday. Bikes will meet at Quaker Steak & Lube, 5800 Interstate Blvd., and the Tribute Ride will continue to Boardman Park at 4. The first 299 bikes to sign up will wear a lanyard bearing a fallen solder’s name. A donation of $10 per bike is requested. Library to host ‘Teen Read Week’

The Bristolville Library, 1855 Greenville Road, will host three fall programs. The first one is for children age 3 to 5 and will be Story Time at 10 a.m. Friday and continuing each Friday.
The second program is for teenagers in grades seven through 12 for Teen Read Week from Oct. 8 through 12.
The third program is trick-or-treat the halls at Bristol High School on Oct. 30. Anyone interested in attending is invited to dress up and trick-or-treat in a safe environment that is sponsored by BETA, National Honor Society and the student council.
