v “Lonesome Traveler, the Concert,” 7:30 p.m.: This musical adaptation of the hit Off-Broadway musical tells the story of folk music in America. The tour ($33 to $42) comes to Orr Auditorium, at Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa.; 724-946-7354.

Extras are needed to appear in film

WARREN

Extras are needed to appear in a scene for the locally made film “Midnight Massacre” that will be shot between noon and 7 p.m. Monday at Warren Community Amphitheater.

Because the scene is a funeral and the funeral-goers are poor townsfolk, extras should wear worn-looking clothing, in dark colors, an no visible logos. Persons of all ages are welcome. Travis Bowen is the director of the film. There is no pay, but extras will receive screen credit.

The movie is loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” but set in modern times. The scene is Caesar’s funeral. Go to midnightmassacre.net.

Tayari Jones’ “An American Marriage” and Tommy Orange’s “There, There,” two of the year’s most talked-about novels, are on the fiction longlist for the National Book Awards. Other books announced Friday by the National Book Foundation include Lauren Groff’s “Florida,” Brandon Hobson’s “Where the Dead Sit Talking” and Jennifer Clement’s “Gun Love.” Shortlists of five will come out Oct. 10. Winners will be announced Nov. 14.
